The Tampa Bay United Premier 95/96 team traveled down to Bradenton, FL on Sunday for an 11:00 a.m. match with IMG. The first 45 minutes were totally controlled by IMG. They took command early going up 2-0. TBU tried to apply a little pressure late in the first half and scored on a nice service from Peter Andrusyszyn to Thomas Whiting. IMG regained control quickly adding a third goal making the score at the half way mark 3-1. Once again, Tampa Bay decided they would take total control of the match for the final 45 minutes. In the 51st minute Jerson Camacho found Nate Madigan on the right side and Nate went in to highlight reel finish mode to get TBU within one. 14 minutes later Jhonatan Da Silva played a fine corner kick service in to the box where after a deflection Blake Rehl smacked the twine. To finish off the staggering IMG team, Johnatan Da Silva again made a solid feed to Thomas Whiting a mere 6 minutes later to put TBU on top for good. Talk about a tale of two halves.

Coach Sims was tracked down post game and asked to comment on the spectacle.

"Coming into the game we knew we had to be very organized defensively and would have to concentrate on possession of the ball in their half of the field as we were playing on a huge field and only had 3 subs. We played as bad as we have as a team all year in the first half as we were disorganized defensively and we did not possess the ball very well, especially in their half of the field. We changed to a 4-3-3 in the second half and were able to put them under a lot of pressure and took control of the match. Nathan Madigan scored a great goal and seemed to energize us as a team. We continued to keep the ball in their half and got a lot of chances off of dead balls and were able to score twice at the end to steal 3 points. It was not a great performance but our team once again showed that it will not quit and will battle until the end. Championship teams find a way to win when not at their best and we did that today and I am proud of that."

TBU plays this coming weekend in the ACDC Tournament at Ed Radice Sports Complex.
