Board of Directors Guidelines for Player Placement
As part of the team formation process the Norwalk Soccer Club Board of Directors determined that there would be 4 criteria used for level 3 player placement on teams. Updated 5/19/2014
In order of priority they are:
1. Registration Deadline - Players must have completed registration before the posted deadline to ensure placement on a team.
2. Age of the Player - players are placed on age appropriate team (age not grade). The club has no authority to modify this requirement.
3. Parental Request - valid written requests are for a player to "play-up" or be placed on a different team. A parent cannot request a specific team or coach.
Requests to "play up" will be reviewed by and is at the discretion of the Board of Directors. A player can only play down using an 8th grade waiver in the Spring season.
4. Coach Availability - Team formation may be based on the availability of a coach.
Important Notes:
- In the event that there are too many players for a team the Registrar will assign new players based on criteria 1 through 4 and then by date and time of registration or history of previous registration with the club.
- At the U8 and U10 age groups, rosters will change approximately 50% from season to season. This reinforces the club’s focus on player development and not a specific team or a specific coach.
