Frequently Asked Questions

I am new to Neighborhood Sports, how do I find out more about the programs you offer?
Information about our programs can be found on the “Sports” and "League Locations" tabs at the top of the website. If you still have questions after reading the information, contact your local Neighborhood Sports office.

How do I register?
Registration can be completed via online or by paper registration (via fax or mail). Some leagues will hold in person registrations.

I just registered, what’s next?
Sit Back, Relax! Go purchase any equipment needed for the sport you registered for. You should hear from a coach about 2 weeks before the season starts with your team's information including practice date, time, and location.

What is the time commitment for a season?
The time commitment is only two (2) days a week. Teams practice once a week for 60 minutes with a game on weekends. The season is 7 weeks long (Week 7 is the end of season tournament or playoff).

Do you offer discounts?
Yes, we offer additional discounts. Volunteer Head Coaches receive a discount upon registering a participant.  We also offer a dual sport discount for participants playing two different sports in the same season.

Where do I find the cancellation/refund policy for the program I'm signed up for?
You can find the cancellation/refund policy in the link titled "Rules & Policies on the bottom of website. Per Neighborhood Sports policy, refunds are not given past a certain point.

The program I want to sign up for is full, is there anything I can do to get in?
If the sports league you wish to sign up for is full, please register for the wait list. Sometimes slots open up due to players switching programs, locations, or dropping out at the last minute. If this happens we contact the people on our wait list to fill the spots.

When will the game schedule be posted?
Game schedule is typically posted one to two weeks before your first game. We try to finish the schedule as soon as we have completed making rosters. We appreciate your patience with this process.

How many players will be on each team?
The number of players per team varies depending on sport and amount of participants per grade division. View the rules of your sport for exact number of players per team. Teams have a limit on the maximum amount of players in order to ensure every players get equal playing time.

How are kids placed on teams?
Our team placement varies per locations and sport. We allow kids to register individually, with friends or as a team. We also take age, skill level, and school into consideration.

Can I request my child be placed with a friend or coach?
Yes, you can request to play with a friend or coach. We will try our best to meet your request, but requests are not guaranteed.

Can I bring my own team?
Yes, you can bring a team. If you are not able to come with a complete team, we reserve the right to add players to your roster who have signed up as individuals and do not have a team request. Please view the rules of your sport for exact number of players needed per team.

Will my child get playing time?
Yes, we have substitution rules in place and pride ourselves on getting every child as many "touches" as possible. Please view the rules for the sport you are signed up for to view playtime.

What is the skill level of players in your league?
Players of all skill level play in our leagues, as we are a recreational league.

When should I expect to hear from the Coach?
You should hear from a coach about 2 weeks before the season starts with your team's practice date, location, time, and team name.

How are coaches selected?
All coaches are volunteers, and we conduct background checks on all head coaches. Selected head coaches are provided with an orientation to coaching, tips on coaching instruction, and equipment during our pre-season coaches meeting.

How do I sign up to be head coach?
When registering for a sport, choose the category “volunteer head coaches child”. We are ALWAYS looking for coaches, as our league relies on these volunteers. If you have more questions about being a head coach, you can check out our Team Central tab or give us a call.

What is the time commitment of coaching a team?
There is not much of a time commitment at all. Teams will practice once a week for 60 minutes and have one game on the weekend. Coaches will also be able to submit requests for practice times and locations that best suit your needs (requests are not always guaranteed).
