All participants compete together against each other in one of two age groups: 12U (12 year olds and younger) or 14U (13 & 14 year olds). A participant's age is determined as of July 17, 2017. Therefore, if a participant's date of birth is on or after July 18, 2004, he/she will compete in the 12U age group. If a participant's date of birth is July 18, 2002 - July 17, 2004, he/she will compete in the 14U age group.

The competition is a 10-out format. Any swing that does not result in a home run results in an out. Every competitor will be given 10 outs.
In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker format will be a 5-Out Competition that can be repeated until a single champion is crowned in each division.
In the interest of time, no more than 2 consecutive balls can be pitched to a competitor without attempting a swing. If a 3rd consecutive ball is pitched without a swing, then that ball will be counted as an out, and every other consecutive pitch after that, without a swing, will be counted as an out.
