Flag Football

The Jr. Eagle Flag League is a perfect place to start your child in the great sport of Football.  Boys and Girls age 5-8 may play in this instructional league.  There are 2 divisions within the league; 5-6 yr old and 7-8 yr old.  Both play 5 on 5 flag football according to the NFL Flag Football rules (check out the NFL Youth Flag site at http://www.nflflag.com/).   Flag Football is great place for kids to gain confidence, learn how to be part of a team, and build character.

While we do keep score and maintain a record for playoffs and a superbowl game, the key mission for Flag is learning the game and having fun.  We play about 10 inter-league games (9 regular season games which includes a homecoming game and playoff game ).  If your team makes it, they also get in a superbowl game.....all at local fields (no travel!!).  The time commitment is roughly 2 practices per week, starting August 5 until the games start (August 26), then it is usually 1 practice during the week and 1 game on Saturdays.

5-6 Flag Division

This division concentrates primarily on football rules, positions of the game, offense and defense concept, football fundamentals, team dynamics, sportsmanship, and FUN.  You will be surprised at watching your child's team run plays at the first game of the season...and then amazed at how good they are by playoff time.
7-8 Flag Division
This division takes Flag Football to a completely new level.  Older kids mean more speed, more passes, more catches, more touchdowns....and more FUN!  Besides building on the same skills as the 5-6 flag division, the 7-8 flaggers learn more complex plays and really begin playing more competitively as passing/catching and speed are the primary skills mastered at this level.  That also means the players need to learn a new and quicker way to play defense against the pass.
Any boy or girl between 4 and 8 years old by Sept. 1st can play in the Flag League. Whether you want your child to learn the game of football a little before moving up to tackle or if you just want them to have fun staying active, Flag Football is a great place to start.
