Mendon Upton Youth Soccer Assoc.(MUYSA)

Program Overview

MUYSA runs soccer programs in the fall and in the spring seasons. We do not organize, manage, or run programs during the winter months.

U5: COED : (Pre-K):
In-town Non-Travel
The U5 program is entirely skill development based, played on Saturday mornings generally for 1 hour. A curriculum is followed to ensure fun and lots of touches on the ball. There are NO games, however, the kids get a chance to play in very small-sided formats, such as 1v1, 2v1, and 2v2 to start to encourage teamwork. However, due to their age, we have found that work on individual skills is more beneficial as they all “want the ball”. As they get older, they become more aware of their teammates and are able to pass the ball. Players and parents are generally notified within a week or 2 of the start of the season.

U6: COED : (K):
In-town Non-Travel
The U6 program is a combination between skill development and game format, played on Saturday mornings generally for 90 minutes. A curriculum is followed to ensure fun and lots of touches on the ball but also to get game exposure. The first 1/2 is working on individual skills providing all ample time with a ball. The second 1/2 is run in game format, generally 3v3 with kids regularly swapped in and out playing about 1/2 the time. Players and parents are generally notified within a week or 2 of the start of the season.

U8 Girls / U8 Boys : (Grades 1 & 2)
In-town Non-Travel
The U8 program is a small sided format to ensure lots of touches on the ball and development of skills. We do try to blend teams with both Mendon and Upton children as well as ability. Requests can be made to pair children together for social reasons, however, in the spirit of creating relatively equal teams, we cannot guarantee all requests. Due to the “in-town” nature of the program, we have more flexibility with deadlines, etc. Players and parents are generally notified within a week or 2 of the start of the season.

U10 Boys & Girls (grades 3-4)
U12 Boys & Girls (grades 5-6)
U14 Boys & Girls (grades 7-8)
Travel : Divisions: Team Placement
The U10 through U14 programs are travel-based. U10-U14 play on Saturday both in the fall and spring. Practices are generally during the week and the coach may elect to practice once or twice a week depending on his/her schedule and field availability. Travel soccer is generally local (within 25 minutes), but occasionally a team may have a ride up to 45 minutes depending on the number of teams in the age group and division of play. The league does try to schedule games locally if possible, but cannot guarantee it. Playoffs can occur for successful teams in some divisions in the spring. No playoffs in the fall.

HS (Grades 9-12 Fall)
U16 (Grades 9-10 Spring)
U18 (Grades 11-12 Spring)
Travel : Divisions : Team Placement
In the fall, there is a single HS age group which encompasses those players from U15 through U18. This age group has a wide age range due to the fact many players are playing HS soccer in the fall season and do not play town soccer. In the spring, there are separate age groups for U16 and U18. They play on Sundays. Teams within the HS (fall) and U16 and U18 groups (spring) may take time to form as sometimes there is not enough interest to field teams at the older age groups.

Nipmuc High School / Miscoe Middle School Soccer Programs
