Hello Hamburg Lacrosse Families,
As you probably know, for the past 11 years my staff and I have taken the Varsity team on a Spring trip. In 2019 we will return to Fairfax County, Virginia for a few days over Spring break. Specific details will be communicated after the first of the year, but you should know that we travel by a 56 passenger Niagara Scenic Coach on April 23rd and return on the 26th. The itinerary and accommodations will be included in future communications.
Mrs. Michelle Smeader and Mrs. Claudia Collins have graciously volunteered to coordinate this trip. I’m sure they would be glad to accept help if you are able.
We take this trip to provide an opportunity to travel and coexist as a team and to compete against a couple of the best High School teams in Northeastern Virginia. These games will challenge our very best Hamburg lacrosse athletes, while creating life memories for everyone that makes the trip.
This adventure, although encouraged, is not mandatory, is funded by the families (approx. $450 per athlete) and is sanctioned by HCSD. It is an option for any Hamburg student athlete that makes the 2019 Varsity roster, or is invited by me. Due to the high level of competition that we will face, committing to this trip does not guarantee playing time. I’m very conscious of the playing time issue, but will never put an athlete in a game situation that is inappropriate for his level of play. I thank you now for resisting the temptation of contacting me about your son’s playing time this Spring. I will only speak with the student athlete about this.
