Chelsea Edges Man U 4-2
The U10 Chelsea squad edged out a thrilling victory over our Manchester United team this past Sunday, November 19th. The final ended up being 4-2, with the scoreline not doing the game justice. From the starting whistle to the end of the match, it was a heated, back and forth affair.
Chelsea jumped out to an early lead with some great ball possession and a great break away score. They almost doubled their lead two minutes after, forcing Man U back on their heels. After another 10 minutes, they did just that off a splendid free kick.
Instead of backing down and throwing in the towel, Man U launched a furious comeback, drawing level with two quick goals coming out of the halftime break! Caught by surprise, Chelsea's team hunkered down and ended up pulling back ahead with a speedy counter attack with about 15 minutes left in the game. Manchester kept knocking on the door though! Not backing down, they almost drew even a second time if not for a close offside call in the last moments of the game. Despite a close match, the score did not reflect the competitive nature as Chelsea pulled a fourth goal in the closing seconds.
These teams will meet again in February as we will expect a similar nail biter!
