Boys Players Tour Winthrop University
While off at the Ray Thompsett Invitational in Rock Hill South Carolina, the Elite FC boys teams were invited by Winthrop Men's Soccer Assistant Coach Kyle Kenney to visit the campus, and tour the soccer facilities.
The boys were afforded the royal treatment, and got the full tour of the coliseum, the weight rooms, the study halls, practice and match soccer fields, and a session on the importance of a high school education. The boys also got some valuable advice from Coach Kenney on what it takes academically and athletically to make it at a Division I college soccer program.
Coach Kenny also discussed with the boys some of his recruiting trips, and explained the type of players that they look for at the Division I level. He also provided some valuable insight for the boys on what they can expect in training and matches while on a tour of the teams locker rooms, where he displayed some of the latest technology that teams and players are wearing to track their movement and heart rates during matches and training.
This great experience was made possible by Coach Kyle Kenney because Kenney is a former Robeson County native, and made the gesture to show the players that if you work hard enough you can make it anywhere by following your dreams. After a great playing career, Kenny moved into coaching at the collegiate level and has been on the rise ever since.
We would like to say a special thanks to Coach Kyle Kenny and would also like to share some photos from our visit. Thanks Coach Kenney, and to Winthrop University for the hospitality and valuable information for the boys during our visit!
