What is Rec Soccer
Recreation soccer is a great opportunity for kids without any experience to learn the fundamentals of the game. From passing, dribbling, shooting, teamwork, communication, and much more.
Recreation soccer is typically available to kids from grades K-12, and is a great way for kids to be introduced to the game in an environment centered around having fun. Games are practices are competitive and fun, and are a great way for kids to learn the basic skills of the game.
During a recreation season, players usually receive a team uniform, or t-shirt jersey, and will play against other players their age on match days depending on how the league divides it's teams. Traditionally we have divided teams into a U4-U6 age group, and a U7-U8, and then U9-U10 age divisions. This keeps kids playing against kids (boys and girls) their own age, making sure all matches are competitive and appropriate for age.
A season typically lasts around 8 matches per season, with matches being played on the weekends and one night a week.
Sometimes there are end of season tournaments for the teams and awards such as medals or trophies are awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams in each age division.
All kids learn their fundamentals through recreation soccer, and this is a great value for those that have aspirations of either making their middle school or high school teams.
Recreation soccer is also a great way for travel team coaches to scout potential talent to be a part of their U15, U17 and U19 teams. Those teams are a goal of our program in the long term, and we hope to soon be able to offer those programs to the children of northern Robeson County.
All players should consider starting in the recreation program and learning those valuable basic skills and fundamentals that are necessary to play the game.
