NASA Area Little League

All our division ages are based off the current Little League Age Determination.  To determine your child's "league age," please click here.

Tee Ball
League Age 4 and 5.  Tee Ball teaches the fundamentals of hitting and fielding.

In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.

To ensure kids have a positive experience, no score is kept during Tee Ball games. Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this introduction level of Little League.

Coach Pitch
League Age 5 and 6.  Coach Pitch concentrates on the continued development of hitting and fielding fundamentals.

As the name implies, coaches pitch the ball (usually underhanded) to the batters from a relatively close distance. At this division, coaches really start concentrating on the rules of the game and instilling a sense of teamwork and collaboration to help the kids understand that it takes a team effort to be successful. Starting at this division, we keep score and keep track of league standings. As with Tee Ball, parents are strongly encouraged to become involved.

Machine Pitch (aka Pee Wee)
League Age 7 and 8. The Machine Pitch division focuses on the fundamentals of hitting a ball at a faster and more consistent speed. At this division, the game is played on a slightly larger field. Coaches feed the balls through a pitching machine that provides the kids with a consistent, straight pitch between 38-40 miles per hour. Not to worry, however!  Kids typically do just fine at that speed after they've had a bit of practice! At this division, you truly start to experience a true game of baseball as kids begin to have a grasp of the rules and their strengths and skills are being honed. The players will learn to work together in this division and depend on one another to make plays.

Majors
League Age 11 and 12. The Majors division is for our oldest players. This division provides the most advanced baseball at NASA Area Little League. Players understanding of the game increases as we prepare them as best we can for life after little league.
