Descriptions:
Pre-Ballet
Students will have fun learning basic steps and fundamental dance skills. This class will introduce the dancer to the basics of ballet. Students will learn grace in movement, body posture and placement, balance and flexibility.
Ballet 1
An introduction to classical ballet concepts with emphasis placed on listening, following directions, mirroring, repetition, rhythm and patterns. Emphasis on mastering 1st and 2nd position feet, demi plie, relleve, and 2 feet to 2 feet jumps. Students will be introduced to the barre.
Jazz 1
Jazz is a more up-tempo style of dance. Students will begin to learn technique of jazz movements. This class will introduce proper warm-up, stretching, isolations, across-the-floor and basic combinations.
Tap/Ballet 3
In this class we will expand on the basics of Tap/Ballet 2 with more focus on proper technique and body positions in ballet and more difficult combination work in tap. Students will start the year with fun review dances and around Dec/Jan learn and perfect both a tap and ballet dance to perform in the recital.
Tap/Ballet 4 with Jazz
This class will continue to focus on the basics Tap/Ballet 3 with even more emphasis on footwork, technique, combinations and even correct step names. Students will also be introduced to the basics of jazz dancing. Students will be learning and perfecting a tap, ballet and jazz dance for the recital.
Tap/Ballet 5 with Jazz 2
This class will continue to focus more emphasis on footwork, technique, combinations and more from Tap/Ballet 4. Students will gain more knowledge in jazz dancing. Students will be learning and perfecting a tap, ballet and jazz dance for the recital.
Intermediate Lyrical/Jazz
Proper technique, new steps and turns, correct step names, correct body positioning and fun combinations will be the focus of this Ballet class. Students will learn and perfect a ballet dance for the recital. Proper technique, combinations, fun review dances and correct step names will be the emphasis of this jazz class. Students will learn and perfect a tap and jazz dance for the recital.
Advanced Ballet/Lyrical
This class continues and expands on the work from the intermediate ballet class and includes the fundamentals of lyrical dance. Special attention will be given to strengthening the foot and ankle muscles and proper body/arm positioning. Students will perform a lyrical dance in the recital.
Advanced Tap/Jazz
Students will be expanding on the work from intermediate class with more difficult rhythms, combinations and faster footwork. Students will perform a tap and jazz dance in the recital.
Dress Code
- Ballet/Lyrical: Pink leather ballet shoes and any color or style of leotard and/or tights, skirts are optional, but should be no longer than thigh length.Boys should wear any color non-baggy shorts and shirt with black leather ballet shoes.
- Tap: Black tap shoes and comfortable, non-restrictive clothing.Boys should wear any color non-baggy shorts and shirt.
- Jazz: Black Jazz shoes and Jazz pants and/or leggings with a form fitted shirt.Boys should wear any color non-baggy shorts.
- Jazz/Lyrical combined class must have tan jazz shoes.
- NO BAGGY SHORTS, NO JEANS!
