The 2018 Season is almost here! What to expect . . .

“I registered for the league.   Now what??”

Our 2018 Spring season is quickly approaching.   The Opening Day Jamboree will be held Saturday March 3rd at the Foothills Sports Complex.

Before we get to the big day, there are a number of things that still need to happen, and we’ll try to answer all those questions and provide an outline of what to expect.

AAA / Majors

We have concluded all try-outs for the AAA and Majors Divisions.   With the conclusion of tryouts, registration for those two divisions is no longer open.   The Managers for both the AAA and Majors divisions will be conducting a draft on Thursday February 8, 2018.    Once the draft is complete and the rosters are certified, Managers and coaches will be able to reach out to the team to communicate everything from practice times and locations, to expectations for uniforms and volunteers from within the team.   Expect for those communications to begin somewhere around the weekend of February 10.  Please remember, all of our Managers and coaches are volunteers, and practice times and frequency will be up to them to set around their already busy schedules.   Practices for the season are officially open beginning the week of February 19, however, some of those teams may elect to start as early as the week of February 12; it’s all up to the individual team Managers.

T-Ball / A / AA

Once all of the rosters for the AAA and Majors divisions are set, our Chief Player Agent will begin forming the teams for the remainder of the divisions.   Any player and coach requests that were indicated at the time of registration will be taken into consideration during this time and we do our best to accommodate as many as possible.  Please note, registration for T-Ball through AA is still open, and will remain open until February 25 (we’ll keep registration for T-Ball open for an extra month beyond that, closing on March 25).   Once all the teams have been formed and distributed to the team Managers, it will again be time for the Managers and coaches to reach out to their respective teams.   Those communications should be expected the week of February 12 as practices will be starting the week of the 19th.   Again, all Managers and coaches are volunteers and will be responsible for setting their own team practice schedule and location.

While teams in all divisions are beginning to get set and into the practice routine, the league will be working to finalize game schedules for the season.  Those will be distributed as quickly as possible and should be known prior to the Jamboree weekend.

Lastly, please be sure to click on the links / news headline on the website that addresses the new bat regulations that were instituted by Little League.Org.     Keep in mind, these standards are not developed by Arrowhead Little League.   As a chartered member of Little League International, we as a local league are beholden to abide by Little League rules and standards.   The new bat regulations for 2018 are just one example.   So, before you purchase that new bat for your future big leaguer, please check out the links to find out which bats are available for league play.

Thanks!   Here’s to a great season; Play Ball!
