SUMMER LEAGUE

Developmental Program
Our Developmental League stresses learning, fundamentals, equal playing time, trying all positions and fun. There is usually one practice and one game per week, with a season ending weekend tournament.  Practices begin in late April and the season ends in mid-July.  League games are played in Hopkins, Minnetonka, Orono, and Plymouth.

D1 (Grades K-1)

The purpose of the Grades K & 1 Division is to introduce the athletes to the game of fastpitch softball. Girls learn to hit a pitched ball (coach pitch), how to field, run bases and a little bit of strategy mixed in with the fun. Teams are generally formed by elementary school and the athletes can sign up to be on the same team as a friend. Everyone plays in the field and everyone bats - we try and keep the teams relatively small so no one is sitting on the bench.

D2 (Grades 2-3)
Athletes in grades 2 & 3 are in Division II. Teams are generally formed by elementary school and girls can sign up to be on the same team as a friend. Division II in-house league will play 2 week nights. Athletes in this league use a pitching machine. This division continues to emphasize the balance between skill development and fun - everyone plays equally and gets to try all the positions they want. Scores are kept and we begin to introduce fastpitch game concepts.

Travel Program

The travel league is more time consuming and competitive. Teams are formed based on age and ability. Tryouts and evaluations for the travel league will be conducted and will be based on skills in hitting, infield, outfield, and pitching/catching. Playing at a certain level/team one season does not guarantee a spot at that level/team in the following seasons. Each season girls will have the opportunity to move up or down based on their tryout/evaluation. In travel softball, the emphasis is on skill development and teamwork in a positive environment.

The travel program usually has one practice and one or two double headers per week.

League games are typically played in Hopkins, Minnetonka, Orono, Plymouth, and Robinsdale. Each team will play in multiple weekend tournaments. Practice begins in March and season ends mid to late July.

FALL LEAGUE
Fall Ball begins in mid-August (practice) with games running through the end of September. Double header games are played on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. We field machine pitch teams at the 8U leave and kid pitch teams at the 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U levels. Fall is the season for girls new to fastpitch since it is more laid back and the season is shorter.  Fall is also great for girls transitioning to a new level the following summer, especially for girls transitioning from machine pitch to kid pitch.  Registration for fall begins in mid-July.  (Now open!  Ends July 31st)
