Dragon Rugby Club was started in 2012 with the intention of expanding rugby opportunities for the Appleton Area School District and build upon a tradition of rugby in Appleton that is over 40 years old.

Programming began with a High School Boys team, and expanded to include summer school offerings in 2013. The following year, a High School Girls team was added and a youth flag rugby program was created. We are now expanding into middle school tackle rugby for both boys and girls. Appleton Area Rugby is the only youth rugby club in Wisconsin that participates in all youth rugby leagues. 

Participants learn the fundamentals of the game through instruction provided by experienced players from the area high school programs and the Fox Cities Gargoyles, Men's Rugby Club. Numerous Appleton Area Rugby players have played on the Wisconsin State Select-Side teams.

Programs are offered year around and both boys and girls in high school can choose to play in the spring, fall, or both.
