Training

Our goal with your athlete is to instill the joy of running.  To ensure this, we build the runner's strength, stamina and mental fortitude up over several months.  Consistency is critical.  To develop, the athlete must run several times each week while increasing intensity and distance.  If your athlete is not used to running we recommend starting with the fun runs in June.  Each week our goal is to build up the distance ~10% over the prior week while keeping any run length no greater that ~15% of the prior longest distance.  As a parent your role is critical, to first get them to practice and then to monitor their health.  Your coaches need to  know any changes to their health prior to practice including sickness, muscle and or joint soreness.  To avoid the common running injuries, we will stress proper warmup, cooldown and properly tracking your mileage.  Please download the mileage tracker and to track their progress.  I will attach additional articles as warranted.
