A six-run top of the third inning propelled the Paris University Club to victory over the Swiss National Team 11-4 in a rain-shortened four-inning game. Pierre Monbieg led off the inning with a walk, before coming around to score on Ahmed Guesmia’s triple. Guesmia scored on a wild pitch during the next at-bat, and Kenny Esposito walked. Kevin Khemache tripled, scoring Esposito (4-1), and the Samy Jamous walked. Jules lined out and the Swiss doubled up Jamous. But on the play, Khemache scored on an error. Ethan Kekenbosch singled, stole second and advanced to third on an error on the throw. Abdallah Taleb walked and stole second. A wild pitch during Phillip Bird’s at-bat, allowed Kekenbosch to score (6-1). Bird walked and stole second, before Monbieg singled home Taleb, completing the scoring in the inning. The Swiss retaliated in the bottom of the third, as Luka Ivanisevic recorded an RBI single and Dominik Scherrer hit a two-RBI singled (7-4). The French went on another rally in the top of the fourth, before the game was paused because of the rain, highlighted by an RBI triple from Khemache. The game was later called because of the rain. Khemache led Paris at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored for six total bases. Scherrer’s two RBIs led Switzerland. The Swiss will play for fifth place tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. against Poland, while Paris faces the North State Warriors at 7 p.m. for seventh place.
