After a great deal of discussion, the Amherst Steele Boys and Girls High School programs have made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 youth summer camp. Though we absolutely love running our camp and we will really miss the kids, the coaches of both programs felt it would be irresponsible at this point to host a camp with over 100 participants and 60 high school students, since social distancing measures would be virtually impossible to maintain. In addition, all school facilities have been closed by the OHSAA until July 1, so we would have had to find an alternative location, which would be tough to do at this point in time.

 

The safety of our players, their families, and our community should take precedence right now and there is unfortunately too much uncertainty to move forward with camp during this unique time period in our lives. With that being said, we encourage you to get outside with your children to work on their foot skills, juggling abilities, passing, and shooting. Soccer is a wonderful game and we would love to see kids working on improving their individual abilities so that they will be ready to go when they are able to meet with their teams. We will hopefully move forward with the fall season and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the soccer field at that point.
