Operations Fee Explanation

For many, but not all sports, Sherrills Ford Optimist Park charges an operations fee of $40 per child per season to cover the costs of running the park. Your particular sport will designate whether or not the fee is charged. We strive to keep registration fees as low as possible so that as many children can participate in SFO events as possible. However, registration fees do not always fully cover the cost to operate the park. This fee was instituted to cover the cost of paying someone to do what a volunteer normally would do.
You can choose to opt out of this fee by volunteering for two hours per season per child.
We have many volunteer opportunities available, including park clean-up days, concessions, field preparation and maintenance, or even coaching. Each sport will have a generic volunteer role that you can choose so that you can decide later in the season how you want to help.
