Brazilian Rush Midfielder to Play for USF

USF-SIGNEE-BRAZIL

The University of South Florida has added another asset to their 2019 roster. Midfielder Vinicius Loureiro has signed a national letter of intent to play on scholarship for the Bulls this fall.

Loureiro hails from Fortaleza, Brazil where he began his soccer career at Juazeiro Sports Enterprises

but has most recently been competing overseas in the Netherlands for FC Utrecht. There he has accumulated an impressive 1,600 minutes of playing time during which he scored two goals.

“One of our partners in Brazil introduced Vinicius to us and told us that Vinicius was looking for an opportunity to come to the USA to study and play for a college. I contacted Bob Butehorn, the Head coach of USF and he was very interested in Vinicius,” says Tiago Calvano, Director of International Affairs at Rush. “Bob also coached Miguel Jaime, a Colorado Rush product and also a former Penn FC player. We are very happy about that; we wish Vinicius and Coach Bob all the best for the season and a lot of success for the future.”

"Vinicius is a promising young prospect for our program. He's a very composed midfielder with excellent final pass efficiency,” comments head coach Bob Butehorn on the USF website.

USF soccer competes in the American Athletic Conference where they posted a record of 4-1-2 and an overall record of 7-8-2 last season. The program is looking forward to the fall where Vinicius Loureniro will be joining the team with 6 other incoming freshman, wearing a #7 Bulls jersey.
