The RDL Co-ed Program is currently for U17-U19 players

Rush Developmental Teams are formed by Birth Year to fall in line with US Youth Soccer’s Mandate. RDL Age Groups are split into eight age categories: U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U16 (gender specific) with U19 being Coed.

It is important to understand what the RDL program is.

It is not competitive it’s still a recreation-based program, which means parent-volunteer coaches, 50 percent playing time rules, no out-of-town travel, teams formed by geographic areas, practices held in your neighborhood and games played in Boise etc.

However, we start to add elements of competitive soccer, we keep scores and standings, there are paid referees (who are also developing and learning). There is an in-house local tournament at the end of the fall season and entry into the Rush Recreational Invitational Tournament in the spring, also the training schedule is less rigorous than competitive soccer.

The RDL program is designed to be a year-round program. Teams are formed during the summer and will stay together for the fall and spring seasons (U9-U15 Only).

Coed HS has registration during the summer for fall and during the winter for spring (due to high school soccer restrictions).

• The RDL Program is a very important part of Idaho Rush. It can be used as a stepping-stone into our competitive program for those that are interested or ideal for players that want to play soccer and learn and develop at their own pace allowing the player to keep playing all the way through High School.

• RDL is designed to give players the opportunity to play MORE soccer without the cost and travel of Competitive, and create opportunities to play against other local recreational teams

• Did I mention a tournament to end each fall and spring season? At no extra cost and no travel.

• RDL plays their fall season at Simplot Youth Sports Complex and spring season at Optimist Youth Sports Complex.

Developmental U9-U16 teams will play together through both a fall and spring season. Teams in the U19 age groups play separate fall and spring seasons.

Games for the fall season generally begin the Saturday after Labor Day and run through the end of October / first week into November. The spring season generally begins in the middle of March and runs through to the middle of May.

Pre-season practices for both seasons may begin as soon as two-three weeks before the first game, depending upon the readiness of your coach and team to begin practice.

Generally there is one game per week and games are almost always on Saturdays (until tournament week). Due to limited field space, a team may play some weeknight games and or a double header on a Saturday.

Location of games for the Developmental seasons alternate from east to west locations. In the fall the majority of games are played at the Simplot Soccer Complex while spring the majority of games are played at the Optimist Soccer Complex. Both soccer venues are in use by the Development program in the fall and the spring. The fall tournament is hosted at Simplot Soccer Complex and the spring tournament is held at Optimist Sports Complex.

Because our membership is made up of players and teams from all over the valley, Idaho Rush Soccer Club see the value in alternating game locations so that members have the opportunity to play closer to home, and we are working to accommodate a limited number of games in the alternate location (optimist fall / Optimist spring) if that location is a better fit for your team.

The uniform consists of a full Capelli kit which includes: blue jersey, white jersey, black shorts and blue socks. The Capelli uniform kit, must be worn at all games.

Soccer shoes should have plastic, aluminum or molded rubber studs. The studs must be no longer than 3/4 inch and should be manufactured and sold as soccer shoes. The studs must not be sharp (no baseball cleats) and shoes with a single stud at the toe (American football cleats or rubber baseball cleats) are not allowed.

Nothing dangerous may be worn during a game. There are no exceptions. This includes, but is not limited to: jewelry, earrings (including pierced), rings, necklaces, bracelets, and wristwatches.

Casts and splints are allowed in the Developmental program at the discretion of the referee.

Goalkeepers must wear a shirt clearly different from any other field players and the referee. They may wear special goalkeeper jerseys, gloves, pants and/or elbow and knee pads.

Additional clothing such as shirts and long pants MAY NOT be worn over the uniform in game play. Sweatshirts, sweatpants and gloves MAY BE worn under the uniform in cold weather.

Players should bring a properly inflated ball to every training session and every game. The size of the ball is specific to the player's age group:

U9s to U12s: Size 4 ball

U13 and above size 5 ball 

Cleats are required. All players must wear shin guards at all training sessions and games. Players without shin guards will be required to sit out some or all of the training session and all of the game.
