Joey Calzaretta

Joey was the captain of the redwood varsity football team from 2017 - 2019, where he played Fullback and Linebacker. He graduated in 2020 and will be playing linebacker at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho, majoring in Marketing. When asked about the role that football played in his life, Joey shared, "Football, starting with my 4 years with the Broncos, through to now, has taught me about how to be a good teammate and how to work hard in everything I do."

Nick Calzaretta

Nick was a running back and two year varsity captain for Redwood High School. He led the state in touchdowns his senior year, 2017. Nick has been a 3 year starting running back for the College of Idaho and is going into his senior year in 2020-2021. When asked what the Broncos taught him, Nick replied" I love the Broncos because it taught me how sometimes you have to make a sacrifice that better helps the team. I love the Bronco community."

Nick Janowsky

Nick graduated with honors from Redwood High School in 2020 and is now attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Nick's years with the Broncos, starting as a Mitey Mite with Coach Chris Newell, were a great introduction to football and the value of teamwork and hard work. He went on to play 4 years of football at Redwood, including 3 years on Varsity as a Cornerback and Safety. Nick also played rugby for many years, and plans to play rugby at Navy.

Hunter Juarez

I played as a Southern Marin Bronco for 6 years. From the many practices and games, I can say that I grew as a person. Currently,  I am a senior at Marin Catholic High School. A 3 time captain in football and track, I have led my team to 3 league championships, and 3 consecutive NCS championships. Being named all league, all metro Bay Area, and all NCS, I have received offers from places like the Air Force Academy, and the College of Idaho. In track I am the defending 100 meter champion in league and have been a part of the 4 by 100 team that broke the school record. Academically, my junior and senior year average GPA is a 3.64. Being said, I have also earned a National Football Foundation award/scholarship. I will be attending college and playing football at the University of Nevada, Reno. Go Wolfpack.

Throughout my 4 years at Marin Catholic I have also done over 100 community service hours, working at places like the Redwoods elderly home and Canal Child's center. I have learned to give back to those in need and be the best me I can be.

Southern Marin has shaped me into the man I am today and I wouldn't change that for anything. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the organization and would love to come back and help out anytime it is needed. Thank you Southern Marin!

 Luke McKernan

Luke McKernan graduated from Redwood High School in 2020 as the Salutatorian of his class and a member of the Redwood Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation. In addition to his academic achievements, Luke received multiple athletic awards including Redwood High School Football Offensive Player of the Year and MCAL First team All-League Running Back.

Luke played 5 years as a Bronco as Running Back and has the longest TD in Bronco modern history, a 98 yard TD run against the West Bay Rams as a Pee Wee in the Fall of 2014.

Enzo Moreno

After playing 5 years with the Broncos, Enzo Moreno moved to Los Angeles in 2014 and graduated Loyola High School. He now attends the United State Naval Academy.

Will Sweeney

Since my Bronco football playing days, I brought all of the lessons I learned from those countless August practices at Friend's Field to the other side of the Golden Gate. I played football all four years at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, was a 2x team captain, an all-league and all-section player, and made some of my fondest high school memories in a Wildcat football uniform. Also, I committed to continue my academic and football career at my dream school Stanford University next fall.

In high school, I also did a fair bit of coaching and volunteering, joined numerous on-campus clubs, became an editor for our school's literary magazine, traveled to Europe with one of my English classes, found my faith, and spent a whole lot of time studying and training. I met people from all over the Bay Area and many socio-economic backgrounds; a few of them became my best friends. In high school, I discovered my most authentic self. I know for certain many of the qualities I call my own were originally learned through my experiences as a Southern Marin Bronco.
