Penn Manor Youth Baseball & Softball Association

Content

Penn Manor will participate in the Lancaster County Midget Baseball Association.  The organization will be divided into a School League and Community League.  Penn Manor’s School Team will be composed primarily of varsity players and a few junior varsity players selected by the 17u coaching staff.  The Community Team will be composed primarily of junior varsity players and perhaps a few others who did not participate on the high school team.  Any player who becomes 18 years of age before May 1 of the current season and/or current seniors are ineligible to play.

Richard Glenn will be the head coach of the School Team and Cody Straub will be the head coach of the Community Team.  Both teams will roster a minimum of fourteen players and some of those players may be dual rostered on the School and Community teams.

The summer season will begin as soon as the Penn Manor High School season concludes.  Each team will play two to three games per week (Monday through Friday).  There are no games scheduled for weekends. The first games are at the end of May and the season culminates with the LNP Tournament in late July at Clipper Magazine Field for the School League.  The Community League will have a post season playoff with the winner of that series earning the opportunity to play in the LNP Tournament.  For further information about the league or to access the schedule, please visit the website at:  http://www.lancobaseball.com.

The 17u School Team is not intended for those who want to play recreational baseball.  While winning is not the only objective, it will be the expectation.  This team will thus practice regularly.  Competing against the top talent from other school districts necessitates a commitment not just to attending games, but more importantly to attending practice.  The expectation is that they will be on a baseball field—practicing or playing—five evenings per week, Monday through Friday.  Talent, effort, attendance, attitude, and baseball acumen will be the considerations for playing time and positions.  The Community Team will be practicing or playing three to four evenings per week.

If you have questions about the 17u School Team, please see me or Richard.   If you have questions about the Community Team, please feel free to contact Cody.  For those unfamiliar with Cody—he has past experiencing helping with the junior varsity team and served as the head coach for the Legion Team last year.  Additionally, if you are available to assist Cody, please let us know.  His contact information is: cell 717-598-4769, email [email protected]

Attached is the registration form.  You may print it at home or I’ll have copies available to obtain in person at the next couple of high school games.  Please complete and return with registration fee to myself or Richard no later than Monday, April 30.
