WEEKLY FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES

Each softball or baseball division, the teams that make up each division, and the coaches who coach those teams are responsible for weekly maintenance for the fields that they are scheduled to play on. Coaches who do not maintain their scheduled fields may lose field time and/or seniority in the organization. Keeping the park operational and the fields in working order requires all coaches of the association to do their part.

A field representative for each field needs to be appointed each season. The field representative is responsible for making sure that a maintenance schedule for each field is created and that each team scheduled does its weekly field maintenance.

DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY INFIELD MAINTENANCE IF YOU CREATE ANY FOOT IMPRESSIONS GREATER THAN ¼” WHEN WALKING ON INFIELD. WHEN IN DOUBT, WAIT FOR THE INFIELD TO DRY MORE.

Weekly Field Maintenance Responsibilities Are:

1. Cut the grass
2. Trim grass along fence lines inside and out
3. Remove weeds from around infield fence lines and backstops.
4. Make sure each shed has 1 shovel, 1 liner, and 1 rake.
5. Make sure each shed has 2 bags of liner and 3 bags of field dry at all times.
6. Fix any minor repairs in fences and gates. Larger issues report to PTAA Maintenance Director.
7. Measure bases and pitcher mounds to ensure proper distances. Adjust as needed.
8. Make sure all base boxes are secured, replace broken boxes as needed.
9. Make sure all bases are free of tears and cracks, replace really bad bases as needed.
10. Line or touch up outfield foul lines with line painters.
11. Clean out the shed and dugout areas.
12. Remove any loose garbage from inside and outside the fence lines.

If you need supplies let your field representative and the PTAA Maintenance Director know. PTAA will expense for gasoline if needed and any supplies used for maintenance not to exceed $50. Larger repairs the PTAA Maintenance Director addresses with approvals from the PTAA board.
