Lake Nona Jr. Lions Competitive Cheerleading
Hello and welcome to Lake Nona Jr. Lions Cheerleading! We are competitive cheerleading programs that not only rock
the sidelines for our very own Lake Nona Jr. Lions football teams, but compete for the chance to bring home a National Title!! Our program runs the week of August 1st through December 31st. Cheerleaders are required to participate in ALL
Lake Nona Jr. Lions regular seasons event, this includes regular season games, playoffs, and National Tournaments (if the associated football team advances). The Competition season primarily runs during the months of November and December with competitions being held on both Saturday and Sundays. ALL PRACTICES, GAMES, AND COMPETITIONS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL AGE GROUPS
. Final practice schedule will be published in July. Our practices days are typically Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays.
All practices, games and some competitions are held outside. This means our athletes will be exposed to all Florida elements; this includes extreme heat, bugs, and rain. Coaches will assure that athletes receive adequate water breaks to combat dehydration; however this must start from home. Please review the dehydration and heat exhaustion material provided on this page.
Regular season games are on Saturdays in August and run through October. The games are played in order by age with the Tiny Mite starting at 9:00am. Athletes are required to report to the fields half time of the previous game. The exact times will be handed out at the start of the season.
During the first week of the season all teams will practice Monday-Friday 6:00pm-8:00pm, this is so we can complete our mandatory pre conditioning hours; these hours are required before the athletes are allowed to stunt.
Only graded school functions and illness will be considered “Excused Absences” Coaches will attempt to accommodate open house, back to school/meet the teacher.
Cheerleading is a team sport and it is very important that all members of the team are at EVERY practice. Each cheerleader will be assigned a stunt group, if one girl is out it effects the entire group as those athletes can’t stunt. Missing athletes also make it difficult for out teams to practice formations as well as competition routines. Please keep this in mind when considering the Jr. Lions family.
All Jr. Lions athletes are required to maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA in order to participate. Grades will be checked via OCPS report cards as well as progress book. We will NOT except notes from teachers!!!! Any athlete that has not fallen below the 2.0 but is dangerously close will be placed on academic probation; this is our attempt to team up with the parents to insure academic success.
