Fury FC Player Development Program (PDP)

Fury FC offers a player development program (PDP) for our U8 age group as part of our Recreation Soccer Program. The PDP is designed to facilitate the growth of each player's soccer skills through targeted training led by experienced trainers. Our program, established in conjunction with Own Touch, focuses on 1v1 play where critical soccer skills and decisions can be made (e.g. dribble vs. pass, offense vs. defense). The goal of this program is to further skill development in preparation for U10 Recreation or Travel.

How It Works

  • Program is led by Fury FC coaches, with a minimum of two, present facilitators/trainers for all practices and games
  • Program to run Fall/Spring and practice/technical plans will evolve over the soccer year
  • Fury FC coaches will hold a pre-season PDP parent volunteer meeting to set expectations for their roles as parent volunteers on practice and game days
  • A handout will be developed and distributed the coaches to all participating families that describes the program and lays the foundation for what to expect over the soccer year
    • The handout will be distributed electronically and posted to the website

The Schedule

  • Schedule will include a Tuesday (technical practice), Thursday (team practice), Saturday (game-day + player evaluations)
  • For families who wish to participate in only a single practice, the priority will be up to them, but the Club's recommendation is to attend Tuesday practices
  • In the event Tuesday practices get rained out, the technical practice will shift to Thursday
  • Pre-season practices will be used to determine teams for the first game

Communication

  • Communication is a major priority for the program and will be led by the coaches, supplemented by Fury FC Leadership
    • Communication from the league will supplement the practice, game, and team communications from the coaches
    • The communication cadence will be weekly, at a minimum, and will follow the following format:
      • Monday communication to families to share practice plans for Tuesday and Thursday as well as team structure for Thursday and Saturday and game time, field location, and jersey color for Saturdays
      • Blue Sombrero will be the preferred channel for communications, but this can be supplemented via text if necessary
      • Team structures will be based on the previous Saturday's game evaluations, but the plan is to largely keep the teams intact

Looking Ahead

  • For the latter part of the Spring season only, there will be the option to move to a larger field to prepare the graduating PDP players for the U10 or Travel field size
  • In addition to our PDP program, in partnership with Own Touch, we will evaluate the potential to stand up "Fury Futsal" or another similar offseason program
