Neil grew up in River Falls, WI playing soccer from a young age. He was captain for his MYSA traveling team for the three years leading up to college (U15, U16, U17). In addition to playing throughout his youth, he played four years on the Men's UW-La Crosse club team. Beginning his junior season Neil was vice-president of the club and captain. His senior year he was president of the club and captain. During Neil's four year career at UW-La Crosse, the team qualified for regionals 3 of the 4 seasons and recorded one of the best seasons ever for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. 

In addition to playing soccer, Neil has coached both in high school and college. He has worked with traveling soccer and camps. He has also been an assistant coach for Mississippi Valley Storm in the past.
