What to Expect:

Practice begins mid July and games start in September and go through November. Football's first week of practice is conditioning and is Monday - Friday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Prospector Park. Players gradually work up to tackling the following weeks. After the first week, practice is 3 times a week (normally Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays) from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Prospector Park. Cheerleaders start practice a couple weeks after football starts and practice is 3 times a week (normally Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays) from 6:15pm - 7:30pm at Prospector Park. Games are on Saturdays and can be all over the valley. We do not find out the location or time of the game until the Tuesday prior to the Saturday game. We do aim to have 2 home games each season to be held at Apache Junction High School football stadium.

The $165 fee for cheerleading covers the uniform and shoes and nothing else is required to be purchased. The $250 fee for football covers the uniform and cost for each player to participate in the Arizona Youth Football League (AYF) that we play under. Additional equipment is required such as a helmet, mouth guard, shoulder pads and cleats. Payment plans are available as well as a limited amount of scholarships to cover these fees on a first come, first serve basis.

Football and cheering require a lot of hard work and discipline, and your child’s coach will expect 100% participation! Each family that wishes to participate in this program must understand and accept this commitment.

All board members, coaches and team moms are VOLUNTEERS and deserve the respect of not only the football players and cheerleaders, but their parents too. These volunteers put in many hours of their own time to ensure that your child has a positive and safe experience. Black & Gold Youth Football League enforces the "24 Hour Rule" which states that a parent and/or guardian may not confront a coach, team or board member to complain until at least 24 hours has passed from the completion of the practice or game. This rule allows a cooling off period so that high emotions in the moment do not cloud the conversation.
