WELCOME TO THE AWARD-WINNING BRONCOS CHEERLEADING PROGRAM!

As a coed youth Cheerleading program in Marin County open to ages 5-14, we offer a blended competitive/sideline cheer program. No experience is required, but we look for people with a strong sense of commitment, a great work ethic, and a positive attitude! From cheer camp in the summer to kick-off to the very first competition, cheerleading with SMB is sure to be an experience you will never forget!

Participation in the AYF Spirit Program provides kids an opportunity to perform in an organized, supervised, safety-oriented environment. AYF programs emphasize fun for all and encourage the development of qualities important long after AYF days are gone.

Advocates say that it provides many physical, mental, and emotional benefits by teaching important life values such as preparation, dedication, public speaking, and working together as a team (read more here). Cheerleading is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 14. You will find more specifics about the cheer program via the cheer dropdown menu located at the top of this page.

We are excited to be starting another year filled with fun, friendships, and of course spreading our SMB pride and showing our Bronco spirit!! On the following pages, you will find all the necessary information expectations for the coming season. Please review it carefully and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.

Looking forward to a fantastic season!

MANDATORY SPRING PARENTS CLINIC

Each year, the Broncos hold a Parents Clinic to discuss the Broncos values, expectations, and team bonding. You will hear information on our Head Safety Protocol as well as parent/player expectations and much more. This clinic is MANDATORY and you must attend in order to receive your equipment.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

All cheerleaders will need to create an account prior to completing their first registration within the system. Click on the "register" button in the navigation menu of this website to start your registration.

You will need to select a team that is best for your child based on age as described in the team descriptions. The Broncos reserve the right to move players based on Board approval.

Please Note: Your cheerleader's ONLINE registration is not submitted until you receive a registration receipt via email from us. Creating an account or simply logging onto the registration system does not register your cheerleader. If you intend to register your child to cheer this year, you must proceed through all screens.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Cheer teams will practice at Redwood High School.

Practices are 3 days per week, typically 5-7 pm. In-season practice times may vary based on coaches' schedules.

What is the "In Season" schedule?

  • Practices are 3 evenings per week, typically 5:15-7:15pm. In season practice times may vary based on coaches schedules.
  • Games are Saturday or Sunday.
  • We typically cheer for 8 games, starting Labor Day weekend. Playoffs can last into November and even December for National competition.

During the month of August when we practice daily, the coaches will be evaluating and getting to know the kids. This month is a great opportunity to make adjustments designed to provide our kids with the best experience, and kids are sometimes shifted to another team during conditioning if the coaching staff feels that his initial placement will not be the best fit for the child.

REQUIRED PAPERWORK

As a member of AYF, we are required to complete several academic, health, and registration forms. We will forward any forms we need from you after you complete your registration. These forms are required to be submitted prior to uniform distribution. No uniforms will be distributed without complete paperwork. All paperwork, other than the player's scholastic report card is due by June 1. If any paperwork is missing as of June 1, you will jeopardize your registration/roster spot.

We anticipate requiring 7 documents from you to get your player on the field:

1. IMAGE RELEASE - MINOR

2. WAIVER & RELEASE OF LIABILITY - MINOR

3.  EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT, CONSENT, AND INFORMATION FORM

4.  PROOF OF AGE - We are required to provide an original birth certificate. The name on the birth certificate must match the name on the player contract, exactly (with the exception that the middle name is not required).

5. 2021/2022 COMPLETE REPORT CARD - PLEASE SEND BEFORE JULY 1ST. School name must appear on the letterhead.

6.  MEDICAL CLEARANCE FORM - Parent Page signed by parent/guardian. Physician Portion of the form MUST be signed and dated in 2022 with physician stamp or address info clearly written, signed, and dated.

7. PARTICIPATION CONTRACT, TRACKING, AND ID CARD

Here are additional guidelines to help us avoid problems we have run into in the past

  • There can be no major corrections on your paperwork - no whiteout on ANY forms. You cannot have an error on your participation contract or the parent portion of the medical form. If you have questions, please email our Registrar at [email protected].

  • The contract must be signed by both parent/guardian and cheerleader and must be the 2022 form.

  • The name on the birth certificate must match the name on the player contract, exactly (with the exception that the middle name is not required).

  • The doctor forms cannot have the prior year date on it anywhere (MUST BE 2022). The form must be filled out and dated by a doctor in the current year.

  • Your help and promptness is very much appreciated!!  We are a 100% volunteer organization and this can be a cumbersome process. Please follow these instructions. The faster we get your paperwork, the faster we can verify that it is accurate and the sooner we can get a correction from you if it is not.

DO NOT EMAIL FORMS. Like last year, we will hold collection dates through the late spring. Stay tuned for dates, times, and locations.
