MEET OUR COACHES!

Our Volunteer Coaches are hand selected by our Executive Board of Directors & have a wide range of experience and talent, both on and off of the field. They balance a competitive edge with the nurturing and growth needed in order for a team to thrive. We  select coaches that have our values & core coaching ethics, which support our Mission Statement.

 - 7U BASEBALL - 

DANIEL MANNING
Head Coach

Originally from East Tennessee, Daniel has lived in Davie County for 3 years and serves as the Worship Pastor at Rescue House Church in Mocksville.  He started playing baseball at the age of 4 and played through high school, helping lead his high school team to 2 Conference titles.

 He’s been coaching youth baseball through Davie Little League for 5 seasons, where his main focus has been to create a culture of enjoyment with his players, while intentionally developing their skill set and passion for the game. Daniel has been married to his wife , Savannah, for 11 years and they have 4 boys.


ZACH BOWMAN
Assistant Coach

Zach grew up in Lewisville, NC and played baseball his entire childhood, having a love and passion for the game. This lead to him becoming a coach for the last several years. 

Off the field, he attends Rescue House Church and has been a Fireman for the last 17 years. 

He is married to his wonderful wife and together they have 2 kids.

- 8U BASEBALL

BRYAN TUGWELL
Head Coach

Bryan grew up in Asheboro, NC and moved to Davie County in his twenties.  He grew up playing baseball and found a new love for the game in coaching kids.  

His focus is establishing empathy and confidence in our youth, emphasizing baseball IQ, fundamentals, and helping produce productive players for our high school team.

He and his wife, Brittany Tugwell, of thirteen years have two kids, ages 7 and 3.

- 9U BASEBALL - 

AUSTIN BEARDEN
Head Coach

Born in West Texas, Austin has lived in Davie County for the last 20 years. He started playing baseball at age 4, playing through High School, and has been around the game his whole life. He has coached baseball at different levels, most recently as a youth coach at Davie Little League. His focus is to emphasize fundamentals, create good habits, and develop skills while establishing an exciting environment that helps youth grow in their love for the game. 

Off the field, Austin works as a department head at AUTEC in Statesville, NC. He is married to his lovely wife, Katie, and has 3 boys.

- 10U BASEBALL - 

JUSTIN DOTSON
Head Coach

Justin was born and raised in Davie County. He is currently the Athletics and Program Director at Davie County Recreation & Parks and also serves in a volunteer role as the Director of Baseball for Davie Little League.

He has been a part of the youth sports community within Davie County and beyond for over 20 years, including serving as a coach for various sports programs. Coaching is something he is passionate about as he believes in developing each player to reach their full potential and also instilling the concept of a team, all while making it an enjoyable experience for the families!  

Justin has been married to his wife, Laura Beth, for 11 years and they have a son, Kace.

10U SOFTBALL - 

NICK HARVEY
Head Coach


Nick is from Thomasviile, NC and began playing baseball at the age of 4 and continued playing in college where he played football and baseball at Guilford College. Later he spent 3 years coaching middle school baseball at Oak Grove Middle School and has a passion for developing young players to their potential while maintaining sportsmanship and fostering the same love of the game he has maintained throughout his life. He has since transitioned to softball where he shapes players into having confidence on and off the field. 

Off the field he shares a blended family with Walkiria Quiroz where they juggle a house full of (6) kids from ages 1 to 21 staying busy but enjoy being at the ball field to instill the same passion and dedication to the game he grew up devoted to.



JEREMY MORRIS
Assistant Coach


Originally from Denver, Colorado, Jeremy now resides in Davie County. He grew up playing baseball and riding horses, and recently rediscovered his passion for the game through his daughter.

Jeremy served in the military for nearly 10 years, bringing a strong sense of discipline and teamwork to his coaching. Since relocating to Davie County, he has established himself as a dedicated Board Member and Little League Coach. His primary objective is to create a safe and constructive environment for players to learn and excel.

Outside of his coaching duties, Jeremy enjoys spending quality time with his partner Sabrina, his daughter Aryanna, and their two lively dogs.

- 11U BASEBALL - 

MATT GAY
Head Coach

Matt grew up in Forsyth, Georgia and settled down in Davie County after serving 13 years in the Marine Corps. He started playing baseball when he was 5 and played through college. He’s coached and volunteered for Davie Little League since he moved here 6 years ago. 
 His goal is to develop and promote growth in skill, sportsmanship and leadership, as well as create a positive and fun environment that fosters a sense of brotherhood. This will fuel motivation and enhance performance on the field. He believes hard work, dedication, and confidence are necessary for players to be successful on and off the field. He also thinks that motivating and pushing players to their fullest potential will lead to a successful team and prepare them to overcome challenges they may face throughout everyday life. 
 
He is married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica, and they have two boys, Jaxon and Weston.

13U BASEBALL - 

AMANDA WATKINS
Head Coach
Amanda is a Davie County resident and grew up playing little league softball & was the Captain of her high school softball team.  After winning the conference and going on to college, she has been heavily involved in her community. She has been a baseball coach for several years, also managing &  coaching the baseball All-Star teams and serves in a volunteer role on the board at Davie Youth Complex & DLL.

Her happy place is on the field, and interacting with players of baseball, softball, and the Challenger Division. She believes that this is the best time of many kid's lives and wants to contribute to making memories to last their lifetime. She believes players should also grow and learn to compete together as a team, all while making friends & discovering what drives them individually. Respect, hard work, sportsmanship and passion are what drive her teams to succeed. Finding a balance of having fun while taking the game seriously sums up her coaching.

Her other happy place is at home with her husband, Peter, and their son, Aydan, who eats, sleeps and breaths baseball. Family is always first, with baseball a very close second.

15U BASEBALL - 

JERRY RIDDLE
Head Coach

Coach Jerry Riddle is guiding the next generation. His love for baseball began as a child playing at Davie Little League. He continued to play with the Mocksville-Davie Legion Team and all 4 years at Davie County High School.  Those sunny afternoons on the local diamond ignited a lifelong passion for the game.

Jerry’s expertise extends beyond playing. For 20 years, he has been an integral part of the game as an umpire. From high school and Legion matchups to intense college games, he’s seen it all.

Jerry hung up his umpire shirt in 2015 and the same fields where he once played served as the foundation for his coaching journey in 2016. Since 2019, Jerry has served as the president of the Davie Little League. His fair judgment and keen eye have earned him respect among players, coaches, and fans alike. His commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering a love for baseball has made a significant impact. Jerry believes in giving back and wears many hats in the baseball community. He mentors young players and coaches, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and the joy of the game. Jerry also plays an integral role with the DLL Challenger team, as his daughter, Sarah, is a player on this magnificent team.

As the head coach of the NC Made 15U team, Jerry brings a wealth of knowledge. His experiences as a player, umpire, and community leader shape his coaching philosophy. Under his guidance, the NC Made team will thrive on and off the field. They will learn not only about baseball but also about character, resilience, and the thrill of competition.

Beyond the field, Jerry and his wife Melinda have 4 children and are active members at Green Meadows Baptist Church in Mocksville, NC. 

Coach Jerry Riddle embodies the spirit of baseball. His legacy extends beyond wins and losses; it’s about instilling a lifelong love for the game in every player he encounters.
