Downtown Little League Code of Conduct

The Downtown Little League places a high priority on sportsmanship and “Honoring the Game”, as it says on our uniforms.  It is expected that all participants and spectators will exemplify these standards.

For players:

  • Demonstrating teamwork and respect
  • No arguing with umpires, coaches, or other players
  • No bat or helmet throwing or other inappropriate displays of anger
  • No taunting of opposing players or chanting when a pitcher is in motion
  • Lining up to greet the opposing players after each game, win or lose, with a high five

For coaches:

  • No arguing with umpires over judgement calls
  • Treating all players on both sides of the field with respect
  • Setting a positive tone and leading by example

For Players and Coaches, this means:

  • Uniforms - Shirts tucked in and hats worn straight for all players, managers, coaches, and safety coordinators.

For parents and spectators this means:

  • Let coaches do the coaching
  • Do not question the decisions of any umpires
  • Cheer enthusiastically, but only positively.  Never do anything to make a player feel badly about their performance, on your team or the other

During a game, if an umpire or league official feels that there has been a violation of this code of conduct, he or she may take required action including removing the player, coach or parent from the game and/or premises. A report will be given to the League Board of Directors for further review and possible actions including suspension of League participation.
