Giving Back Through Baseball: How Your Employer Can Support UCALL

As the holiday season approaches, many families look for ways to give back to the community. At Union City American Little League (UCALL), every act of generosity—big or small—helps us continue providing safe, fun, and affordable baseball experiences for local kids.

One of the most powerful ways you can support UCALL doesn’t require spending more money—it’s through your employer’s charitable giving programs. Many Bay Area companies offer benefits like matching gifts or volunteer grants that can double the impact of your support.

Matching Gifts: Double Your Donation

If you donate to UCALL, your employer might match that contribution. Companies such as Apple, Meta, Tesla, Kaiser Permanente, and many others participate in these programs, often matching dollar-for-dollar. That means a $100 donation from you could become $200 for the league.

These funds go directly toward keeping registration costs low, maintaining fields, providing uniforms and equipment, and supporting scholarships for families who need them.

Dollars for Doers: Turning Volunteer Time Into Support

Some employers also recognize the time you give. Programs known as “Dollars for Doers” or volunteer grants reward employees who volunteer with nonprofits. For example, your company might donate a set amount for every 25 or 50 hours you volunteer as a coach, board member, or team parent.

If you’ve been volunteering this season, check if your company offers this benefit—you may already qualify to earn extra funds for UCALL just by logging your hours.

How to Find Out if Your Company Participates

It’s easy to check:

  1. Search your company’s intranet or ask your HR department about “charitable matching” or “volunteer grant” programs.

  2. Look up your company’s name on donation platforms like Benevity or YourCause, which manage corporate giving.

  3. If UCALL isn’t already listed as a nonprofit option, your HR team can usually add it.

Submit by Year-End

Most programs require donations or volunteer hours to be submitted by December 31 to qualify for the current tax year. Taking a few minutes before the end of the year can make a meaningful difference for hundreds of Union City kids.

Every Gift Counts

UCALL runs entirely on volunteer power and community support. Your generosity—whether through time, talent, or financial gifts—helps keep baseball accessible and full of hometown spirit.
