A message from UCALL President, Chris Hyland

Transcript:

Happy New Year UCA Family -- past, present, and future!

My name is Chris Hyland, and I’m honored to serve as the new President of Union City American Little League.

Before I talk about where we’re headed as a league, I want to take a moment to share why Union City American Little League has always been such a big part of my life.

I started my UCA journey when I was five years old, on the T-Ball Royals, wearing number one, and played here until I was sixteen. When I think back on my childhood, some of my most meaningful core memories weren’t just the games — they were the friendships, the families, the BBQs and just being at the park on weekdays and weekends. Those moments turned into lifelong connections, and many of those families are still part of my life today.

Last year, I joined the board as the Information Officer as a way to give back to the community that gave me so much and to help create those same experiences for the next generation, including my own two children. Stepping into the Presidency now is about continuing that mission: developing great players, great teammates, and ultimately, great young adults.

I also want to take a moment to recognize and thank our previous President, Jaime Delgadillo. Jaime’s leadership has been steady, selfless, and deeply impactful. What many families may not realize is that nearly 80% of our board has served for over ten years, which is incredibly rare in any organization. That consistency matters — because how our board works together directly shapes the experience families have on and off the field. I’m proud to lead alongside this group as we honor what’s been built and continue moving the league forward.

My leadership philosophy is simple: when families feel connected, kids thrive. UCALL is more than baseball. It’s about community, integrity and belonging. And every decision we make starts with the family experience and works backward from there.

We measure success by one simple question: would a family want to come back — and recommend UCALL to someone they care about?

This year, our focus is on growth — growing participation, growing players and coaches' skills, and growing the experience we provide families. That means trying new things, learning as we go, and communicating openly. Progress doesn’t come from perfection — it comes from participation. And our goal is to build success the right way, through strong values, great development, and a community we’re proud to represent.

And I want to ask for your help. If Union City American Little League has been meaningful to your family, help us create the league everyone wants to be a part of. Share your experience. Talk to friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Invite families who may be looking for a place where baseball, community, and family come together. Help us give more kids and more families the opportunity to be a part of something special.

I’m incredibly excited about where this league is headed. I’m confident in our leadership, our values, and our community. Thank you for your trust, your support, and your belief in UCALL. I can’t wait to see you at the fields where the next set of core memories is already waiting to be made.
