Opening Day Parade Next Saturday!

Hello everyone! The Opening Day Parade is next Saturday, April 11th! We want to provide some high-level information, with an expectation that you will hear from your head coach directly with final instructions on where exactly to meet a day or two before the event, but to summarize the parade details:

Saturday, April 11th

Assemble: 10:30am. Rye Metro North Train Station. Tee ball and Minors will assemble in the front parking lot of Rye Grill and Bar. Intermediates and Majors will assemble in the parking lot closest to Police station parking. Please look for your coach and team banner upon arrival. If you feel it necessary, you may walk with your son or daughter in the parade. It is a long walk for our younger players in Minors and Tee Ball.

Parade Start: 11am.

Route: The parade will start at the Rye Metro North Train Station, work up Purchase St. to Milton, and then down Milton to the cut through to Disbrow Park, and end at Grainger Field.

As in the past, we will join forces with Rye Girls Softball for the parade, so there will be 700+ players marching, plus coaches, bands, and other participants!

Each of our 42 teams has a local business sponsor. To show our appreciation for these businesses’ support, we will be asking each head coach to coordinate with his team to make a poster or two for the team to carry in the parade. Please consider offering to help with that, as our sponsors deserve this recognition.

Once we all reach Grainger Field at Disbrow Park, all teams will assemble across the outfield grass. We will have a short opening ceremony, and teams will have a quick lunch provided by Jerry's Post Market. We should wrap up by 12:30pm at the latest.

Many teams will be playing later that afternoon across several fields in Rye, and more will play on Sunday. There will be a Majors game starting at 2pm on Grainger, and a Rye High School Varsity game at 3pmthat afternoon for anyone interested in watching.

Uniform Distribution/Required Equipment
Unless you have not been notified differently from your coach, please assume that uniforms and hats will be distributed on the parade morning for Minors and Tee Ball. Majors and Intermediates will get their uniforms and hats before their first games this week.

For the parade: long pants and walking shoes are recommended, along with jackets if it is cold.

Your coaches will send out additional gear recommendations for the season, but in general players will be responsible for providing their own baseball glove, cleats (sneakers are fine for the parade), white baseball pants, and a batting helmet.

On behalf of the Rye Little League Board of Directors, thank you for participating in Rye Little League. We are really looking forward to another great season!
