The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of the Archdiocese of New York offers a dynamic basketball program for parish students in grades 3 through 8. This program provides an exciting opportunity for students to engage in healthy competition and develop their athletic skills. Additionally, second-grade boys and girls can participate in a Basketball Clinic, where they are introduced to the fundamentals of the game. Students in grades 3 through 8 practice weekly and compete in a competitive league against other parish teams within the county.
Practices are scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM in the school gymnasium and other facilities in Clarkstown. Weekend practices and games take place from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Competitive games are held across Rockland County on weekends once the season begins.
CYO emphasizes the importance of respect in all aspects of the sport. Participants learn to value the game, their teammates, opponents, officials, and spectators. Coaches play a vital role as mentors, fostering sportsmanship and fair play among the players.
The program requires an application, a medical form, and associated fees for enrollment.
