Positive Lifestyle - Weequahic Park Kite Day – Event Description
The Weequahic Park Sports Authority’s annual Kite Day Celebration brings families, youth, and community members together for a vibrant afternoon of creativity, outdoor fun, and community unity. Hosted at historic Weequahic Park, this event turns the open sky into a bright display of kites soaring above our neighborhood—each one representing joy, hope, and the positive spirit of the South Ward.
A designated Safety Zone is set up to ensure every child and family can fly their kites with confidence. Trained volunteers assist with assembly, line management, and kite-flying techniques, helping create a safe and welcoming environment for all ages.
Participants receive free kites while supplies last, with hands-on support to make sure every child experiences the thrill of seeing their kite take flight.
Kite Day highlights the Weequahic Park Sports Authority’s commitment to creating safe spaces, positive experiences, and community-centered fun. It has quickly become one of the park’s most beloved traditions—an afternoon where neighbors come together, children play freely, and the sky fills with color and excitement.
