Letter to Parents RE: COVID-19 virus directives and Spring soccer

Dear PHWM Soccer Families,

We hope you remain safe during this health crisis, as we all continue to grapple with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, we are reminded of the importance of working together to get through these difficult times.

The health and safety of our youth soccer community remains of utmost importance. Consequently, we have delayed the start of the PHWM Soccer spring season, originally scheduled to begin in April. Hopefully the program can start in May.

The PHWM Soccer program's plan is to start the spring leagues May 8th at the earliest and run until the end of June. The start of the season could be delayed farther, the season shorten or canceled. The decision will be on based the protective measures implemented by the Federal/State/Local governments that extend restrictions through the spring into June and the safety of staff, volunteers, participants and residents. We will continue to monitor information and update our members as more information and/or directives are available.

The current status is Maryland State has implemented a stay home policy, a no gathering of more than 10 person policy and the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks Department policy is all organized recreational activities are canceled until further notice. Therefore no practices, games and clinics until farther notice. The closing of Baltimore County public schools through 4/24/200 also impacts the sport programs. Reopening of schools after 4/24/2020 could be when sport programs would be allowed to be active.

If PHWM soccer has to canceled the spring recreation soccer program there will be a refund or credit of the registration fee. We are working with WMRC and the registration software vendor on how to do a bulk refund or credit. There are 850 children registered for spring season which is 770 orders, the cancellation of a soccer season program isn't something that has ever happen or has a process to follow. Please be patience.

To be prepare for the spring soccer season, the program must organized as it would for any soccer season. This includes ensuring we have enough volunteer head coaches for each group. There will be other communications requesting volunteers coaches. Thank you to all who have volunteered to coach for the spring season.
