In seventh weekend of the Peninsula Pop Warner Football season for the Southern Marin Broncos Youth Football (SMYF) organization three of the four teams played away the and exited the weekend with 1win, 2 losses in 3 contested games. The Broncos 12U Blue Team had a bye this weekend and was idle. 10UThe Broncos 10U team opened the day with a lost to the Creekside Warriors, who scored twice early in the 1st quarter to take a 14-0 lead. The rest of the game both defenses dominated and neither team score the rest of the way. The Broncos 10U team record is now 0-7 on the season. 12U Orange TeamThe 12 U Orange Team faced the Creekside Warriors in a game that featured two teams that are angling for playoffs berths. The Broncos begin the game on offense and punted after three plays. The Warriors RB Jeremiah Lewis ran through the heart of the Broncos defense for a 8 yard touchdown. After an unsuccessful extra point attempt, the Warrior led 6-0. The Broncos second drive been on their own 43 yard line. The Broncos turned the ball over one the 1st play of the drive, when QB Braiden Bachich and RB Marcus Jones muffed an exchange that was recovered by the Warriors. The Broncos took possession of the ball three plays later then the Warrior RB fumble on a short run, that was recovered by OLB Bachich who ran for a 65 yard touchdown. After a successful extra point kick, by Place Kicker Samuel Xitumul Rodriguez, the Broncos led by a score of 8 - 6. It was the 1st time all season, the Warriors trailed an opponent in a game. On the next two consecutive offensive possessions, the Broncos defense failed to have an answer for the Warriors, who moved the ball effortlessly and scored at will. The Warriors also block a punt attempt by Punter Kody Haan, for a recovery and a touchdown. The Warriors went into halftime leading the Broncos by a score of 30 – 8. The 3rd Quarter begin with the Warriors being the half with an opening drive score, to increase the lead to 36-8. The Broncos scored once again in the 4th quarter on a 12 yard pass from QB Bachich to WR Haan. The final score was 36-14, Warrior over the Broncos. This lost for the Broncos ended a 5 game win streak. The Broncos 12 U Orange team record is 5-2. 14UThe Broncos 14U team saved the weekend for the Broncos, as they thoroughly defeated the Santa Clara Lions by a score of 29-7. The Broncos were led by Jake Son, who scored two touchdowns, on a rush and an interception return. QB Dylan Manuilow spread the ball around all day, capped by touchdown receptions to Charlie Kaludis and Ricky Kampmann. Ruben Palomares and Atticus Moustakas also scored on rushing touchdowns. The Broncos 14U record on the season is 5-1.
