Broncos Press Release

The fifth weekend of the Peninsula Pop Warner Football season for the Southern Marin Broncos Youth Football (SMYF) organization was a home affair for the entire organization as they hosted the East Bay Warriors, from Oakland, for three games and the Alameda Wolverines for one, and exiting the weekend with 2 wins, 2 losses in 4 contested games.

10U

The Broncos 10U team opened the day with a lost to the East Bay Warriors, who dominated the game from the opening drive to rout the Broncos in a 42-0 victory. The Broncos 10U team record is now 0-5 on the season.

12U Blue Team

The second game of the day had the Broncos 12U Blue Team hosting the Warriors, who at game time were the division’s 4th place ranked team, in a game that was closer than the final score indicated. The Broncos 12U Blue fell to the Warriors by a final score of 26-0. At halftime, the score was 12-0, as the defense contained the Warriors running game between the tackles.  However, the Broncos offense never got going and Warriors blew the game open.  The Broncos 12U Blue team record is now 3-2.

12U Orange Team

The first victory of the day for the Broncos begin with Marcus Jones returning a short opening kickoff 61 yards for a touchdown, and a successful extra point kick by Samuel Xitumul Rodriguez, put the Broncos up 8-0.  The Broncos established themselves defensively on the opening drive, led by Defensive Tackle David Anderson, Jr, who on 3 of the 4 first offensive plays by the Wolverines, was in the backfield tackling the ball carriers for successive loss of yards, and disrupting the punt attempt to put the Broncos in excellent field position to score.   Two plays later, QB Braden Bachich ran 14 yards on a sweep play, to execute the Broncos’ 1st offensive touchdown of the day. After another successful  extra point kick, by Kicker Xitumul Rodriguez the Broncos led by a score of 16-0. The Broncos scored two more times in the 1st half, with a 4 yard touchdown run by RB Jones and a 20 yard off tackle run by Rookie RB Cooper Milan, who scored his 1st touchdown, to finish halftime with a 28-0 score.  The Broncos scored once more as QB Bachich looking for an open receiver, opted to pull the ball in and out run the Wolverine’s defense into the end zone from about 30 yards out, for a 34-0 lead.  The Broncos defense bewildered the Wolverines who recorded one 1st down the entire game, and finished the game with negative offensive yards on the day. In addition to DT Anderson, Jr, the defensive unit was led by DE Marcus Jones and OLB Anthony Rojas, who controlled the edges and never allowed the Wolverines backfield a comfort zone to get anything going. The Broncos have held their opponent’s scoreless in three consecutive games.

The Broncos 12 U Orange team record is 4-1.

14U

The Broncos 14U team, who suffered a disappointing lost last week, got back in the win column by defeating the East Bay Warriors, who were the #2 team in division rankings, by a score of 14-6.  This was a huge organizational victory, as it was only the second time in recent memory, that a Broncos team has defeated an East Bay Warriors team at any level.  The last organizational victory by the Broncos against the Warriors was a 2017 come from behind playoff victory, by the Mitey Mite team.  The 14U team had previously been victorious against Menlo Park and Los Gatos. The Broncos record on the season is 3-1.
