2020 Junior Qualification Bonspiel Dates, Locations & Registration Links


Junior NBQ #1 - Nov. 8-10, 2019, Midland Curling Club

Junior NBQ #2 - Nov. 22-24, 2019, Curl Mesabi

Junior NBQ #3 - Dec. 13-15, 2019, Centerville Curling Club

NOTE: 
All qualifiers will have an optional Friday morning pre-event practice, and all qualifiers will conclude by late Sunday afternoon.  If you are flying to an event, plan on arriving Thursday evening and departing Sunday evening. Depending on numbers, qualifiers may start later and end earlier, but under no circumstances will they run outside these guidelines.

Coaches & Team Officials –Must be at least 21 years of age. A coach must register with the USCA 15 business days (see U21 & under details below) in advance of the start of competition and complete the following requirements:

(i) Provide his or her personal information and agree to the code of ethics (included in the online registration process).

(ii) Complete a successful background screen by the National Center for Safety Initiatives at least 10 days prior to a respective event start date (information provided after registration).

(iii) Read the SafeSport handbook (information provided after registration).

(iv) Complete the SafeSport training modules (information provided after registration).

Coaches must also register with the team athletes under the respective event in the Blue Sombrero online registration system as a “volunteer” to appear on the team roster. Coach event registration serves as a source of communication to others on the team, and allows team members also, the ability to monitor when team member registrations are completed (team member names appear on the team roster as their registration requirements are manually reviewed and appear to be complete). Teams may have only one designated coach and one other team official per game. Any change in the designated coach and/or team official must be noted on the line-up card provided to the Chief Umpire prior to the beginning of the game.  Coaches and team officials should register 30 days in advance of an event, as background checks are required (up to ten days to complete; international background checks typically require at least 30 days for completion).

Coaches are required for ALL U21 and under events (Junior & U18 National Championship teams).

NEW for 2020 Season, in compliance with US Center for Safeport and USA Curling MAAPP Policy, legal Guardian Consent forms are required for all minor athletes giving consent to a supervising adult or coach when a legal parent or guardian is not present or accompanying a minor athlete. Consent forms are to be carried by all designated coaches and supervising adults.



2020 USA Curling Athlete Futures Camp

USA Curling is excited to announce the new USA Curling Athlete Futures Camp.  Athletes who aspire to be part of the National Team will have an opportunity at the camp to spend time with the National Coaching Staff and gain feedback in various areas of development.  It is envisioned that the camp will also help to cultivate our Olympic Athletes of tomorrow.

The two-day camp will take place May 1st & 2nd, 2020, at the National Team Training Center in Chaska and the Training Haus in Eagan.  It will allow athletes an opportunity to spend time on the ice working on technical elements and sweeping, sessions in the gym plus getting tested at the Training Haus, an off-ice sports psych session, and tactical sessions. We will have a special guest Olympian on hand to run a session.

Why should Athletes participate in this Showcase? 
Opportunity to learn from National Team Coaching Staff 
Athletes will have the ability to showcase their talents in front of the National Team Coaches
Athletes will be able to interact with other athletes and teams aspiring to be Olympians
Gain feedback from National Team Coaches on the development of various aspects of the game
Athletes will be tested in the gym in the same manner as the National Team Athletes

Minimum requirements to apply:
Adult Athletes who competed in a NationalChampionship in at least one of the last two years, or in at least one of the last two years, or
Athletes who are aging out of juniors and competed in the Junior Nationals in at least one of the last two years
Must be a US Citizen as the close of the registration

2020 USA Curling College Championship-Invite ONLY

20 USA Curling College Championship - Qualified Teams ONLY

Dates and Location: March 13-15, 2020, Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club-Fargo ND

Fee: $10 per player 

REGISTER HERE FOR THE 2019 USA COLLEGE CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP. The USA Curling College Championship is designed to find the best college curling school in the nation. Sixteen schools have been invited (see school listing below) to participate in a split round robin followed by a championship round, and one will take the single national title. NEW 2020-Teams will consist of no more than six players. All participating individuals must be eighteen years of age before March 13, 2020, members of the United States Curling Association. Participants must have, and be able to present upon request a current, valid, student ID and a photo ID card with date of birth (can be a student ID card).

Coaches must be at least 21 years of age, must register with the USCA Coaches Association and complete the membership requirements. Coaches must also register by clicking the "Volunteer Opportunities " button and select the volunteer role (Coach or Adult Supervisor) for the same event as the team that they will be coaching.

The College Curling Championship registration deadline date is 11:59 pm CST, Friday, March 1, 2020.

2020 Club National Championships

Dates & Location: March 7-14, 2020, Potomac Curling Club, Laurel, MD,
Entry Fee:
$110.00 per player , plus any regional fees.


EVENT DESCRIPTION and REGISTRATION DETAILS: The USCA Club National Championship is a club-based, geographic championship aimed at determining our top teams from the regions (and/or states). Teams move through the playdown process via the traditional state and regional championships. National Club Champions do not advance to world play.  U.S. residency is required (see USCA Rules book-Residency definition.). In addition to the USCA membership requirements, all team members must be dues-paying, league-playing members of the same USCA club (All players must be reported on the listed member club's membership roster for 2020). Refer to the USCA Rules of Curling &Competition for complete eligibility guidelines.

ATTENTION-Late Registration: Open for 48 hours after the close of registration, All late registrations will be taken over the phone, by calling the USCA national office. A $75 late registration fee will be charged to each person's registration.

2020 U18 National Championships

Overview: The USCA U18 National Championships are a regional-based, geographic championship aimed at determining our top under 18-aged teams from within the USCA regions. Teams move through the playdown process via the traditional state and regional championships. Any player who is less than 18 years of age at any time on or before the 30th day of June (6/30/2019) of the year immediately preceding the year the competition is to take place. All team members must be league playing member of a USCA member club within the same registered region. The winning teams shall represent the USA at the U18 Players Championship Slam, April 2020 (Dates TBD).

Coaches are required for ALL U21 and under events (Junior & U18 National Championship teams). NEW for 2020 Season, in compliance with US Center for Safeport and USA Curling MAAPP Policy, legal Guardian Consent forms are required for all minor athletes giving consent to a supervising adult or coach when a legal parent or guardian is not present or accompanying a minor athlete. New WCF rules regarding sweeping equipment will apply to all playdowns and championship events that are USCA sanctioned events.

EVENT DESCRIPTION and REGISTRATION DETAILS:  Arena Curling National Championships - teams entering MUST have been pre-registered by their clubs prior to the pre-registration deadline. All team members must be dues-paying, league-playing members of the same arena curling club. INDIVIDUALS WHO ALSO CURL LEAGUE AT A DEDICATED ICE FACILITY ARE INELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE. The Arena Curling Championships Event Rules can be found on the USA Curling website at www.usacurl.org within the USCA Rules of Curling and Competition.

Coaches must be at least 21 years of age, must register through online registration, and complete the Coaching requirements. Coaches MUST also register as a "volunteer" of the same event as the team they will be coaching.
