Fitz League Rules
  • Players must play 50% of the game.
  • Practices are held from 5:30pm-7:00pm at Person Field in CDA.
  • Games will start at 5:30 and will be:
    •  1st half 30-minute running clock
    • 5 minute half time
    •  2nd half 30-minute running clock
  • No Blitzing: Linebackers should read and fill holes but no pre-snap jumps.
  • You will run a 4-4 stacked defense.
    • Defensive ends must be lined up directly in front of the tackle or tight end.
    • Defensive tackles must line up directly in front of guards.
  • Offense starts with the ball starts at the 40-yard line.
  • Offense will take snaps from under-center. Shotgun snaps are not allowed in grades 3-4.
  • Fumbles and Interceptions will cause a change of possession and the ball will be placed on the 40.
    • Because we play on a half-field, interceptions and fumble plays are dead after change of possession.
  • After week one bobbled center-QB exchanges are a live fumble and can be recovered.
    • Week one they are a dead ball with a loss of down.
  • After week one we use a 45-second play clock.
    • Loss of down for delay of game.
  • Offensive penalties will result in a loss of down, but they will not result in negative yardage.

  • We allow one coach to be on the field with the players to help them line up and call plays in grades 3-4.

  • Any games missed due to weather are not guaranteed to be made up.

  • Any penalties thrown due to sideline demeanor will be 15-yards and assessed to the head coach. This includes the actions of parents, guardians, assistant coaches, and players. We hold our coaches responsible to maintain a positive sideline demeanor.

  • This is a FUNDAMENTAL league (3rd/4th grade). We do not assess penalties with yardage loss/gained and do not throw flags for actions like holding, encroachment, or illegal formation. We simply ask that the referee informs the Head Coach of the player involved and have them coach the appropriate behavior.
