Rules of Play

1) For 7v7, seven players per team play on the field (six field-players plus a goalkeeper). For 5v5, five players per team play on the field (four field-players plus a goalkeeper).

2) Guest Players are permitted, but they MUST register at the front desk, fill out a Medical Waiver and pay a $12 fee (per game). NO EXCEPTIONS

3) Unlimited substitutions, Subs enter at the halfway line when ball goes out of play or on a stoppage of play.

4) 5v5 Co-ed League Teams must have at least one person of each gender on the field at all times.

5) A minimum of four team members must be present to start a game. (Same rule applies to both 5v5 and 7v7)

6) Minimum Roster Size: 6 for 5v5 and 8 for 7v7

7) Maximum Roster Size: 9 for 5v5 and 12 for 7v7

8) No watches or jewelry are to be worn during games.

9) Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. No metal studs.

10) Games are 25 minutes each half, with 2 minute half time break. Teams will play 6 league games per session.

11) No physical contact between players. Minimal shoulder use will be tolerated (no arms). Contact will be decided at the discretion of the referee.

12) No slide tackling. This also applies to the goalkeeper. No tackling from behind.

13) No Heading is allowed for players in the U10 and below leagues.  In the event a player heads the ball, an indirect free kick will occur at the place of the incident.

14) There are no off sides.

15) The Goalkeeper must wear a different color shirt at all times

16) Referee must be notified of a goalkeeper change.

17) The goalkeeper is allowed out of the Penalty Area. The goalkeeper may only handle the ball within the penalty area.

18) The goalkeeper cannot handle a ball that has been passed back to them by their own teammate. If the goalkeeper does pick the ball up, an Indirect Free Kick is awarded to the opposing team, to be taken from the same place as a penalty kick.

19) A kick-in will replace a throw-in when the ball goes out of play for U15 and up divisions. The ball must be placed on the line and be stationary before the kick can be taken. U8-U14 divisions will use throw-ins.

20) The ball does not have to be played forward from the kick-off

21) Foul play or violent / abusive behavior will result in a sending off in that game and a possible indefinite suspension from the leagues if the rules committee deems appropriate.

22) For 5v5 play, all free kicks will be indirect.

23) Opponents must retire at least 5 yards at indirect free kicks.

24) For 7v7 play, a sin-bin rule is in operation for a 2-minute period of time for all Yellow card offenses at the discretion of the referee. Once a Yellow card is issued, the player must leave the field of play for 2-minutes during which their team plays with only 6 players instead of 7.  A second sin-bin offense (Yellow card) in the same game will result in a sending off (Red card).

25) All Red cards will be kept on record. Repeat occurrences of red cards by the same player may result in multi-game or season suspension if the rules committee deems appropriate.

26) All other FIFA general soccer rules apply.

27) 3 Points for a WIN - 2 Points for a TIE - 1 Point for a LOSS.

28) Scores should be reported to [email protected] by the winning team within 48 hours.  After 48 hours, either team can report the score. Scores will be recorded and posted with a 7-goal max lead. Click here to Report Game Scores.

29) There are no shut-out or skunk rules.  All games will be played for the full 50 minutes with an emphasis on sportsmanship.

30) Ball Size: U7 through U12 will use a Size 4 ball, supplied by the Home Team.  U13 and up will use a Size 5 ball, supplied by the Home Team.

31) Team with the most points after 6 games is the League Champions.

32) In the event of  2 teams tied on points the following tie-breakers will determine the League Winner:
A) Head-to-Head .... if no clear winner
B) Goal Differential for the season with a max of 3 goals per game ... if no clear winner
C) Least Goals Against for the season
