The Wilson Girls Youth Lacrosse program started in 2003 with one team of 6th through 8th graders. These girls were the pioneers along with a handful of other middle school lacrosse scattered across Oregon. Since that time, lacrosse participation in the Pacific Northwest has expanded many fold. In less than a decade, WYLAX has expanded to include several teams serving girls in 1st through 8th grade.
Coached and managed by parent volunteers, the WYLAX girls program has been a leader in developing lacrosse as a fun and competitive spring sport in Oregon. We are pleased that many of our graduates go on to play lacrosse at Wilson High School and at other private schools in the Portland area.
The University of Oregon started an NCAA Division 1 women's lacrosse program in 2006, and many other Northwest colleges and universities compete at the club level. Simply put, lacrosse is exciting, fun to play, and regarded as the fastest growing girls sport in the country.
