2022 Delta Little League Important Dates

2022 Delta Little League Season - Important Dates

  • Thursday, March 3rd: Coaches' Meeting: If you have notified us that you are interested in coaching, please plan on attending the coaches' meeting at Delta High School, room 130 (lecture room with stadium-seating between the auditorium and cafeteria). Enter through entrance 5 (concession stand). This meeting is extremely important, please plan on attending whether you're coaching tee-ball or major league. Included in the meeting:
    • Basic skills expectations for players in each league and ideas for coaches to help reach them
    • Expectations of head and assistant coaches
    • Expectations of all coaches in helping to prepare the fields, close up "shop" after games, and help with finding scoreboard keepers
    • Recommended communication methods (Team Manager/Game Changer apps), expectations for level of communication to parents, and bookkeeping (when appropriate)
    • Pitch count discussion (minor and major league coaches)
  • Saturday, March 12th: Little League skills assessment: For all players from Rookie, Minor, and Major leagues. Any Tee-ball players that have reached out about their 6-year-old petitioning up into the Rookie league will also need to attend this meeting.
    • Please note that Tee-Ballers wishing to petition up to Rookie League must make the Little League leadership aware of your child's wish to play up ([email protected]) OR notify the Player Agent for the league, Kurtis Preston ([email protected]). Please plan on attending your session. If, for some reason, your child needs to attend another session please let us know as each session is specific for its age group. Sessions are as follows:
      • 7-8 year-olds: 9am-10:30am (includes 6 year-olds wishing to petition up)
      • 9-10 year-olds: 11am-12:30pm
      • 11-12 year-olds: 1pm-2:30pm
    • If your child is petitioning up to Rookie League and cannot attend the skills assessment, you will need to contact the Player Agent (Kurtis Preston, [email protected]) about attending an alternate assessment. There will NOT be a separate skills assessment for ALL players, ONLY for those players wishing to petition up to Rookie League.
  • Wednesday, March 30th, 5-9pm: Little League Draft. All head coaches are expected to attend the Little League draft. If you have notified us about your willingness to coach, you will receive more specific information about location and times closer to the event. Parents of kids in the league should expect to receive communication NO LATER than the following weekend (April 2-3) about their child's team/coach.
  • Saturday, April 2nd, 9am: Field Cleanup Day. After being covered in snow all winter, the fields are going to need some TLC before opening day. If you are a coach or volunteer, are handy in the yard, or are interested in helping make our fields beautiful for our kids to enjoy - please plan on reaching out to [email protected] to let us know that you're willing to help! These fields won't clean themselves...it takes lots of time and effort (all by VOLUNTEERS!).
  • Saturday, April 9th, 9am: Alternate Field Cleanup Day, in case of rainout.
  • Early-Mid April: Practices begin!
  • Saturday, April 30th: Opening Day for ALL Leagues (including Tee-Ball)!
    • Picture Day
    • Munsee Meats fundraiser truck will be on-site for meat bundle purchases! A portion of the proceeds go to Delta Little League to help keep our league great!
    • Concessions
    • PLAY BALL!
  • April 30th through early-mid June: Regular Season (depending on rain-outs, make-up games)
  • Mid-June: Tournament (Rookie, Minor, Major leagues)
