The Bexley Recreation & Parks Department (“BRPD”) and Columbus East Soccer Association (“CESA”) today announced an exciting new youth soccer partnership, under which BRPD and CESA have agreed to merge its soccer programming for ages under 6 through under 10. Both BRPD and CESA have historically provided accessible, structured soccer programs aimed at cultivating an enjoyment of the game from a young age, with an emphasis on player development.
“BRPD has an excellent rapport with the Bexley community and rich history of providing high quality, affordable programming in a number of recreational and sporting pursuits. Partnering with CESA and utilizing their years of experience allows us to provide to our community a youth soccer program of the highest quality. Additionally, this partnership will unify youth soccer options for residents, providing convenient and consistent programming. We also have a great deal of soccer experience on staff and wanted to provide enhanced options and choices in soccer. With the opening of the new fields at Schneider Park in southwest Bexley, and the opportunity to host league play in our community it was the right time to engage CESA in this partnership,” said Mike Price, Director of BRPD.
Drew Flora, President of CESA, added his endorsement, “Our two organizations have had a long standing relationship of cooperation with the goal of providing grassroots soccer opportunities for youth soccer players. It's a great fit that will enhance choice and quality for young players starting out with the game, and their parents.”
In terms of the new arrangement, the Under 6 CESA/BRPD program will now take place at the new Bexley fields at Schneider Park, due to be open at the beginning of the Fall 2018 Season. If the Schneider Park fields are not ready for the Fall we will host the u6 league at Wolfe Park. Programs for Under 7 and older will be held at the CESA Soccer Fields at Easton.
Ben Levey, a Bexley Alum and an associate at Blumberg & Co, the company that oversees the CESA programming and facilities, provided some more detail. “We are passionately committed to ensuring that recreational soccer, as the first experience of the game for most youth players, is well structured and coached, with player development in mind. As a result, young players have an enhanced experience at the outset, leading to more enjoyment, and a greater likelihood that they will continue with the game.”
This partnership takes effect for the upcoming Fall 2018 season and more information about registration and programs can be found at: www.cesasoccer.org
