End of Season All-Star information

It’s hard to believe, but the 2019 AHLL Spring season is about half way done already!    Following are a few items to keep in mind as the season starts to wind down.

Post-Season Summer Play at Arrowhead:

Just because the regular season ends, doesn’t mean there is no more baseball!    We know that your calendars fill up quickly and summer plans are being made, so we want you to have as much information as possible when considering where more baseball may fit into your family plans.

Little League’s Post Season will begin play shortly after our Arrowhead Regular Season play ends.  Eligibility and selection to participate in these opportunities varies.  See below.

District Tournament of Champions.  First, for any player in the Majors division, please remember there is the possibility that your Majors team represents all of Arrowhead Little League in the Arizona Little League District 2 Tournament of Champions.   This tournament pits the Championship team from AHLL, determined by winning the end of season Majors tournament, against the Majors division champs from our neighboring leagues within the District 2 boundaries.    This tournament begins immediately following the end of our AHLL season ending tournaments which begin the week of May 6th and run through Mid-May.  Plan to stick around and represent Arrowhead in this short tournament before school ends.

District All-Star Teams.  Little League hosts an annual series of tournaments that leads up to participation in the Little League World Series as seen on TV.  Play begins at the District level and the winners advance to State, then Regionals and above.  Selection of eligible players for All-Stars is done through a private vote of all division coaches.  To be eligible, players must meet Little League requirements and have filled out a participation form indicating schedules over the summer.  The three District teams will compete in the District 2 Tournament for the respective age groups that will begin sometime in late-mid June.    The District Office has not yet released exact tournament schedules; we will publish as soon as that is released, but those tournaments are typically scheduled so that they end no later than the July 4th holiday.  Teams that advance to the State tournament will play into late July and (for 12 years or older) regional and national tournaments extend all the way into August.  Arrowhead expects to field District All-Star Teams in the following ages:  9-10 years, 10-11 years, 11-12 years, and Juniors.  Look for more information to come in a few weeks if you would like your player to be considered for All-Star selection.

Tournament All-Star Teams.  Players aged 9-10 who are not selected for a District team above (or who do not wish to be selected) are eligible to be selected by the same voting process to our week-long tournament team:  TOPS Tournament.

Our TOPS Tournament team is for players age 9-10.    This week-long tournament is held early-June at Shaw Butte Little League.

Fall/Spring Baseball:

It’s also not too late to start thinking about Arrowhead Little League play for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020.  While our Spring season is more competitive and AAA & Majors are selected through a draft, our Fall league is instructional and a great opportunity to get in some well-needed reps before Spring.  Registration will be open in the next few months for the Fall season.

And to our Majors 12 year olds, congratulations on your last season on the “little league” fields, but did you know your Little League career is just getting started?  We offer Juniors, Seniors, and Big programs that allow you to keep playing all the way until you are 18 years old.  The next level up from Majors is Juniors and they play their games in the Spring at Peoria Sports Complex pro fields.  So, be sure to sign up for our Juniors program and keep playing for Arrowhead Little League.

We hope this information is helpful when making family plans for the summer.

Go Arrowhead!
