Boys Program Overview

'Growing Potential and Nurturing Talent'

Wayne Soccer Club has a rich history of producing talented players and teams throughout its 30 years of existence. However as the landscape of youth soccer evolves and changes over the years to remain meaningful within the community, so have we. Four years ago we hired Jamie Meek as our Director of Coaching, to oversee a transformation of our club. This transformation switched our primary focus to our younger players, following a model similar to what you would see at professional clubs'  'junior academy level'. This has allowed us to create a clear pathway for players to realize their potential and nurture their talents. Our goal is to provide our players with a solid soccer foundation, to which they can grow upon in the future whether that be with us or playing at a higher level elsewhere. No matter where they end up, providing a specialist program, specific to each players' level ability allows us to have a meaningful impact on our players.

The Player Pathway

While falling within the parameters of a township travel soccer program, Wayne Soccer Club has the structure and operations just as well, if not better than the surrounding academies. The big difference is the cost. We are a true 'Club' program, fully run by soccer professionals where every coach works towards the club curriculum and philosophy. Our pathway beginning with our pre-travel/ recreational program, allows players to progress up, while always placing them in the best environment in order to enhance individual player development. Having teams at each age group, and having what can be considered an A team and B team, we place players at the appropriate level based on their abilities at that time. Through our systematic pathway approach to development, and the consistent monitoring of our players progression, we are able to challenge and motivate players to consistently push themselves and develop their talent. When a player is performing well in practice and dominating in games, these players are rewarded by being asked to guest play on the higher or older team. During Fall 2020, we saw an average of 5-7 players each week benefit from this experience. This model has also helped players prepare for the transition from 7v7 to 9v9, and 9v9 to 11v11. By giving them exposure to these different playing conditions, when they make this jump due to their age, they are more prepared to handle the adjustments.

Our coaches take great pride developing players, and no matter where a player fits on our pathway, the drive and motivation is there to push them to the next level of play as an individual. Most of our teams currently play in the Morris County Youth Soccer League, and the reason for this is highlighted above. However, similar to how we monitor individuals, teams are also looked at as a whole and when our criteria is reached, and further challenge is needed, we will move this team appropriately. Many clubs push players and teams to league which are not required, here at Wayne Soccer Club we will make the changes if needed for the good of the players.

Just like our Motto 'Growing Potential and Nurturing Talent' we want to progress young players to be the best that they want to be, by providing the tools necessary to do so. If we can provide the best foundation to their future soccer endeavors, then we have been extremely successful, and can be proud of our accomplishments. In the past 3 years, our success is becoming more and more apparent, with a number of highly skilled and knowledgable players coming through our program, and moving on to play at higher levels of play.

Core Development Values

Wayne Soccer Club holds 3 core values which we aim to develop in each player during their time with the club.
Each core value does overlap, with soccer being the main driving tool, however education relating to both on and off the field occurs. Similar to that of developing their character, there are many life lessons and skills which can be learned and improved through the use of soccer.
