RSC Launches Fourth Season

The Rosevelt Soccer Club rang in the New Year by kicking off its fourth season last week.

Over the course of the 2017-2018 season (January-June), the club's 11 teams will host at least 460 training sessions, play at least 294 games, and complete at least 75 hours of public service.

The club will be able to do this, while also adhering to its founding principle of dev more affordable soccer-playing opportunities for Maine's youth players  In fact, the club estimates it will save its players' families nearly $200,000 in registration fees alone for the 2017-2018 season.*

"Three years ago at this time, we were a new club with a deliberately-misspelled name, no uniforms, and three quasi-full rosters. Since then we've grown to eleven teams nearly spanning the age spectrum on the boys' and girls' sides, while developing a reputation of fielding quality teams and giving our players numerous and varied opportunities to develop on the soccer field and off it," co-founder and chairman John Morgan said. "Of course, none of this is possible without the dedication, hard work, and support of our coaches, our directors, our sponsors, our players, and our players' families. We've been very fortunate."

The club's teams have jumpd right in with team training sessions, foot-skills sessions, goalkeeper-specific sessions, and league games at the Gorham Sports Center; futsal sessions at the Westbrook Community Center and Riverton School; and fitness-specific sessions at AW Strength and Conditioning.

"Our club has adopted the Roosevelt family motto, Qui plantavit curabit, as our club motto," Morgan said. "It means 'he who has planted will preserve.' And we're doing our best to live up to that."
