EGSL May Monthly Meeting Minutes       May 1,2018

Meeting was called to order at 8:04 pm, accepted by Ken, seconded by Kenny.

Secretary’s report presented by Coleen, accepted by Kristen, seconded by Chris.

Treasurer’s report presented by Laurie, accepted by Vickie, seconded by Bill.

President’s Business:

Opening Day- Big thanks all around for all who helped make the day a success. All the volunteers of the events helped make things run smoothly. Thanks to the Bugbee boys for maning the grill all day long, much appreciation of all the help given.

Field Clean UP- Thank you for all the volunteers and to Sarah Nunez for coming out to help, and to get community service service hours.

Coaches- Reminders- Background checks for all of your staff. Also make sure the girls aren’t wearing jewelry during the games. If girls shirts are too big, they should tuck them in, please discourage the players from tying their shirts behind their backs.

All Star Format- Seniors Teams 1 & 4 vs 2 & 3, split team 5. All teams choose 6 players, the game begins at 9:30am. Middle Division, 1 & 4, vs 2 & 3, 7 girls chosen from each team. Game begins at 12. Junior Division- 8 players chosen for each team, coaches to divide into 2 teams, playing 6 innings, 2:30 start.

Senior Girl- All graduating seniors have received the application for the Katie Lavey Scholarship. All paperwork has to be in by 5/16. Winners will be announced at the All Star Game.

Community Event- Items will be collected the whole weekend, Friday 5/11 diapers and wipes, Saturday 5/12 personal hygiene items; deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, lotions, etc…. Sunday 5/13 canned goods and dry products: cereal, pasta, rices… Please donate what you can on any given day. This community event is in conjunction with CCAP. They have been helping Cranston and neighboring communities for over 50 years.

Stand Training-This is offered to anyone before they come in to work the concession stand. This is an important part of our game day experience. Please think about coming in to help.

Make up games- Should be scheduled as soon as possible, please consult Tammy for availability of fields and umps.

Stephanie Botelho and Anthony DiChiro have been voted in as new members, welcome!

Start thinking of nominations for the 2019 softball season. Rick will be stepping down after this season. June is nomination month. Please step forward and lend a hand to make next season a successful one.
