EAA Tackle Football Alignment Policy

All registered players for Elkhorn Athletic Association (EAA), regardless of age shall be school aligned by the method set forth by Elkhorn Public Schools (EPS) to the best of our ability and knowledge. All players, including home school or parochial school players, shall be aligned by their primary residence address per EPS boundaries. The EAA Football Committee may allow NEW or RETURNING players to misalign under the following exceptions.

1.    Returning Players: All Jr. Storm and EVW returning players have the ability to return to their previous year team regardless of alignment.

a.    A parent/player may also opt to re-align if a previous year misalignment had occurred.

b.    Flag players cannot be considered returning players.

2.    Team Void: If at any time a TEAM VOID can be filled by a coach and his existing team from another organization, the EAA Football Committee may allow that coach to secure his team regardless of misalignment.

Team Void Requirements:

a.    The HEAD COACH must be the new HEAD COACH for EAA.

b.    The HEAD COACH must provide a previous year league submitted roster prior to any registrations being valid.

c.    The team majority must reside within Elkhorn Public Schools boundaries.

d.    A minimum of 12 players from the previous year roster must register for this team. If 11 or less players register, all registered players can be school aligned to another team by the EAA Football Committee.

Note:

                      i.    TEAM VOID exception cannot be utilized for any flag teams or 8U tackle teams.

                      ii.    If a returning team has a HEAD COACH step down or change school branches for any reason, it cannot be considered a TEAM VOID situation.

3.    Out of District / Parochial: When a player’s residence is considered out of the EPS school district boundaries, the player will be assigned the team which is closest by distance traveled to his primary residence for the ease of family travel. As required by the Metro Youth Football League (MYFL), they will be reminded of the opportunity to sign up for the leagues, school aligned team that is closest to his/her residence, for the ease of family travel.

4.    Family Member: If a family member (in the same household) is an active EAA player and has been previously misaligned for any reason, then a younger/older sibling may also misalign to promote family friendly transportation. 

5.    Full Team: If an aligned parent/player wishes to register for an EAA team considered FULL and is no longer accepting additional players, the parent/player may elect to misalign their son to another available team.

Requirements:

a.    The aligned team roster must be full as per the target roster size (TRS) and current HEAD COACH must deny any future additions or expansions to the team roster for that season.

b.    The misaligned team being requested must be OPEN to the public and not considered a CLOSED or CONDITIONAL roster.

c.    The HEAD COACH must approve the misalignment. He may reject the request.

6.    Team Size: If any team is considered too small by the Football Committee and in need of players, any new player can be added to that team regardless of alignment, as long as the team assignment is approved by the EAA Football Committee.

7.    Committee Discretion: If assigning a new player to a misaligned team is considered to be in the best interest of the overall football program, the Football committee reserves the right to make such a roster adjustment.
